Appearance and Style[]

Opie is a large and burly man, standing at an impressive 6'4", he towers over most of his brothers in the club. Opie is young, roughly the same age as his best friend, Jax and he is in good physical shape. He often kept medium to long thick brown hair, which was either loose, in a ponytail or a bun, and a beard. Opie has numerous tattoos on his upper body. The right side of his neck reads "Gracie", this was a stock tattoo and it has no meaning. On his left shoulder, he has a tattoo of his late wife, Donna, with her name written below. After Donna's death in 2008, angel wings were added to this piece. Below this on his forearm, he has a portrait of his two children. He also has some Latin lettering on the same arm reading "tantum-deus", roughly translating to "Only God". On the opposite arm on his shoulder he has a large dark circle with intricate designs and the word "SAMCRO" in the centre. Along his collarbones and top of his chest he has "The center cannot hold", "Anarchy is the only hope" and an anarchy symbol separating the two phrases; directly below this he also has a reaper. Hurst states this tattoo was inspired by a poem and song lyrics. On either side of his ribs, he has a large black demon, identical on both sides. Perhaps most noticeably, he also had a large Sons of Anarchy insignia on his back. Opie's final tattoo he received was around 2011, a moth tattooed on his throat. Hurst states that most of the tattoos were designed and chosen by him.

Opie wears a variety of upper body clothing, ranging from dark coloured flannel shirts, dark tshirts and often an additional black leather jacket. He frequently also dons a black beanie with black sunglasses. Opie always wears blue or black baggy jeans, accompanied by a black leather belt with a bronze skull and crossbones buckle. Opie always wears black boots. Hanging off his belt is two silver chains which feeds in to his back pocket and a brown leather scabbard containing a hunting knife. Opie wears numerous silver rings, they depict a Sons reaper, a large black jewel with silver around the edge, and a crucifix with four skulls in each corner. Opie never wore a wedding band, despite being married twice. A thick chainlink silver bracelet with the word "victorious" engraved on it's many loops was worn on his left wrist.

Opie's kutte also has a generous amount of customisability displayed. He has a custom golden Sons reaper badge which he wears on the top left of his kutte, Piney has an identical pin to this. He wears a "Men of Mayhem" flash on the upper right of his kutte and wears his "Sons of Anarchy" flash at the bottom right; Opie also sports a unique flash reading "Charming, CA" on the bottom left of his kutte.

Biography[]

His father, Piney, was also a member of the club and one of the First 9. He was best friends with the club's former President, Jackson "Jax" Teller and just finished a 5 year prison sentence in the Chino State Penitentiary. He fathered 2 children with his deceased wife, Donna Winston, and later marries Lyla Winston, a pornstar employed by Luann Delaney, the owner of Cara Cara and wife of Otto "Big Otto" Delaney. Like Jax, the club was in his blood; it's the only life and family he had ever known. Opie was killed in San Joaquin County Correctional Facility. After a brutal beating and fatal blow to the back of the head, he met his demise in the Season 5 episode "Laying Pipe". He is seen once more, as a corpse, in the series' subsequent episode, "Stolen Huffy", in the same season.

Opie's most powerful trait was his unbreakable loyalty towards SAMCRO and his best friend, Jax. Even after spending five years in jail for the club, he was willing to do anything to help the Sons. After his release from prison, Opie was torn between leaving the club and becoming a family man or staying with SAMCRO and risking his life and freedom once again. He eventually chose to stay in the club and, after the death of his wife, he completely alienated his children, out of grief.

Opie, though seemingly gentle, has a vicious streak, as he savagely beat Tig when he confessed to be responsible for Donna's murder, and went on to threaten Agent Stahl for it, making her believe he was going to kill her. However, he revealed his gun was empty, telling her to remember that "the outlaw had mercy," causing her to break down after he left. He later killed her in the same way Tig killed Donna.

Opie ultimately sacrificed himself for the club, and for Jax, not wanting his best friend to die.

Season 1[]

"Pilot"[]

We first meet Opie, a lumberjack by day and on and off member of the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club who has recently been released from prison on club related crimes. His best friend and Vice President of the club, Jax, is attempting to convince him to assist the club in raiding a warehouse belonging to rival club, the Mayans; after they raided the Son's warehouse and stole their guns. Opie is at first reluctant, telling Jax that he is "earning straight" now after he promised his wife, Donna Winston, that he was done with the club life. Opie is eventually convinced after admitting to Jax that he is in a lot of debt.

At the table, the club go over the situation with the Nordics, a white supremacist gang and their plan to retrieve their guns. They are joined at the table by Opie, and Happy Lowman, a member of the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, Tacoma charter. Piermont "Piney" Winston, Opie's father and co-founder of the club speaks up and congratulates Jax on the birth of his son, and they are all here for him if they need him.

Later that day, the club put the finishing touches to their plan to raid the Mayan warehouse and retrieve their guns. Clay is impressed with the club's work.

Donna later catches Opie filling his bag with explosives and she is upset and furious to learn he is working with the club again. Jax overhears their argument and tells Opie he shouldn't go to the raid and he will explain to club President, Clarence "Clay" Morrow that Opie had to take his kid to the emergency room. Opie mentions to Jax that he wonders why he didn't talk to him about his son being born. Jax admits that he didn't know what to say, and still doesn't.

"Seeds"[]

Clay announces that the gun deal with the Niners has finally gone through, giving the club a decent chunk of change. Juice soon arrives and says that Deputy Chief David Hale has a warrant to search one of the Sons' warehouses where they store guns.

Opie is still broke and his family is facing a lot of debt, Donna assures him that everything will be okay. Opie meets Piney and asks him to borrow some money. Piney tells his son he can't lend him any but Clay is doing a protection run tonight for Chief Wayne Unser which will score him some easy cash, Opie is doubtful but Piney tells him to start facing his issues.

We later see Opie and Clay talking about their history. He has agreed to do the run for some easy cash. Clay later betrays Unser, instead selling his cargo to Jimmy Cacuzza, an Italian mobster who the Sons work closely with, to ensure he doesn't attempt to partner with anyone else. Opie also tells Clay he is back in the club.

"Giving Back"[]

Jax and Opie are clearing out Opie's garage looking for baby gear in preparation for Jax's son to come home from the hospital. Donna learns that Opie is assisting at the charity fundraiser led by Jax's mother, Gemma Teller Morrow. Donna is sceptical of both Gemma and the fundraiser but Opie insists it isn't a "club thing".

At the table, Clay and Jax propose a deal bought to them by Otto "Big Otto" Delaney, an imprisoned member of SAMCRO and a man he has been protecting inside, Charles "Chuckie" Marstein, a former associated of the Lin Triad who hustled them for $400,000. Chuckie wants protection in exchange for SAMCRO getting cut in on the deal. Jax explains that they will split the money with Chuckie, 25% to the club, 25% for Otto which will go to Luann Delaney, his wife. Everyone is in agreement of the deal, despite Bobby explaining it will be dangerous as Henry Lin, the leader of the Lin Triad is ruthless.

Clay brings one more item to the table, April Hobart, a SAMCRO associate has asked for her ex-husband Kyle Hobart to attend Gemma's Taste of Charming fundraiser being held tomorrow. Kyle was excommunicated from SAMCRO after letting Opie get arrested nearly 10 years ago. There is some disagreement but Opie is surprisingly happy to allow Kyle to come, stating that Kyle has nothing left in his life after being kicked out of the club and his family leaving him. There is some disagreement but the vote eventually passes.

At the fair, Jax briefly catches up with Opie, Opie tells Jax that Donna doesn't know who Kyle really is and that he is the reason he went to prison. Opie notes that Kyle seems to be doing alright for himself, as he has a new girlfriend. Jax ushers Opie away.

Jax finds Opie again and catches up with him. Opie admits he only wanted Kyle to come to see how miserable he is, but he seems happy being able to see his kids again and now he has a new life away from Charming. The pair continue to watch Kyle as he takes off his jacket, causing his shirt to ride up and his back to be exposed, Jax and Opie are horrified to see that Kyle still has his large SAMCRO back tattoo, the exact same one that Opie and Jax have. Club rules state that excommuniated members are supposed to have all tattoos blacked out. They both stand and Opie insists he will handle it.

Opie follows Kyle in to an empty hall and Kyle immediately says that he has done what Jax has asked, staying away from everyone. Opie begins to remove his rings and he tells Kyle they need to settle some things. Kyle says he meant to come to prison to speak to Opie but it didn't seem right, before he has time to finish his sentence, he is slugged across the face by Opie and knocked to the floor.

He confronts Kyle and they begin to fight.

Jax tracks down Opie and Kyle, who have just finished beating on each other and settling old beef. Kyle admits that he misses the club life and the respect and money it bought him. Jax asks Kyle again about the stolen vehicle parts he mentioned earlier, Jax says they can bring it to Clay if Kyle hangs around tonight and he agrees, saying he can hear his son's band play some other time.

The club at the charity event learn from Clay that they are going to pick up the Chinese money right now, Opie and Kyle head back to the clubhouse whilst Jax, Tig and Bobby link up with the rest of the club.

Back at the clubhouse, Opie learns that Kyle's treachery will be taken care off. He leaves to go and finish up with Gemma at the fundraiser.

"AK-51"[]

At the table, with the club whole again. Juice has returned from Nevada and Chibs has returned from up North. Chibs brings news about their Irish contacts and explains they need to pay them on time or they will buy from the Russians instead. The Sons will also continue to sell guns to the Niners at a discounted price. Jax and Piney also made a sale of some weapons to a local militia earlier in the day.

Half-Sack suddenly bursts in to Church and tells Clay he is needed outside. The club head outside and find Agent June Stahl of the ATF and Hale. Stahl asks who the owner of the garage is and Clay admits it is him, he is immediately arrested. Clay asks what the charge is and Stahl says he isn't being charged yet, she is just looking for some information about Nate Meineke. Clay states he doesn't know who that is and Stahl informs him that he is responsible for holding up a prison transport and killing three people. The last call on his phone is from TM.

With Clay out of the picture for the time being, Jax takes charge of the club. He orders Opie to take Piney up to the cabin to protect him from the feds in case they come looking for him in connection with the gun sales.

The club scramble to keep things in check. Piney tells them that Nate has reached out and told Piney his location. Jax tells Piney that he has to setup a meet so that they can take care of the militants, they lead the feds right to the Son's front door. Bobby also announces that the feds have a warrant to search the clubhouse. Piney is sent back to the cabin with Opie whilst Jax attempts to handle the situation.

At the cabin, the feds have come and gone without finding anything as the club were able to get the Niners guns off the property. Piney tells Jax that Nate has agreed to buy the rest of the AK's. Jax knows this is their chance to wipe out the militia for good and stop any heat coming back on the club.

Clay heads up to the cabin with the rest of the club, he is happy to hear that Jax managed to get the guns out of the warehouse and the ATF have uncovered nothing in their search except for the Irish oil barrels which the club receive their guns in, which the club believe could pose a threat if the ATF investigate hard enough. Clay says it won't be a problem once the gun warehouse is rebuilt and they don't need to store anything in the clubhouse anymore. Jax attempts to tell Clay that they are handling the militia but Clay insists Jax will handle it find and heads to bed.

The following day, Piney, Opie and Jax meet with the militia again. The deal goes down and Nate and his crew take the guns and drive off. Opie and Jax watch on as Piney embraces Nate for a final time, telling him to take care of himself. As they watch the militia disappear in to the forest, Opie detonates the explosives hidden inside the gun bags, killing all of them.

"The Pull"[]

As Jax and Opie enter the hospital, they see two Nords leaving, they head to the driver's room and find him badly beaten. Andy Kreidman confesses that he owes the Nords a lot of money. Andy also tells them that he doesn't but the crank in Charming and he is going to lose his job as the Nords stole the keys to his truck which was carrying a diesel tanker. He gives them a location.

Jax and Opie race to the impound lot and arrive just as the Nords are leaving in the stolen truck, they chase the truck and are eventually able to get it to stop and restrain the Nords. Jax later sells the stolen diesel to Unser, meaning the club now have enough to complete the IRA deal.

Chibs, Juice, Jax, Opie and Half-Sack soon arrive at the bar where Clay and Tig were meeting the IRA. They learn that a shooting went down and Cameron Hayes, the Sons' new contact after McKeavey was killed by port commissioner Brenan Hefner for not wanting to pay more tax has also just been shot by Mayans who attacked the bar. The barman says he will take care of the Mayan body whilst the rest of the club get Cameron back to the clubhouse, in Half-Sack's very convenient ambulance.

Outside the bar, Clay, Jax, Tig and Opie talk. Tig says that Alvarez has to have learned about the IRA from Darby, the Mayans and the Nords have teamed up like he predicted weeks ago after the Sons blew up the Mayan warehouse. Tig says they need to get more charters involved and wipe out the Nords and the Mayans for good. Opie and Tig are in agreement. Jax isn't sure, saying SAMCRO aren't ready for a war, they have no cash and no gun surplus, and the ATF is still on their tail. Jax asks Tig and Opie to step away whilst he talks to Clay. Jax tells Clay that he knows he thinks he is distracted and not committed but he isn't he risked his life earlier to get $15k for the club. Jax assures Clay that he is now seeing a bigger picture but his commitment hasn't changed and he is never afraid to get bloody. Clay walks back over to Tig and Opie, saying that dealing with Alvarez it is going to cause an all out war. Opie and Juice need to get in contact with other charters and get their President and Vice President in Charming tomorrow.

Back at the clubhouse, Chibs says that they need real medical tools or Cameron will die, the bullet hit an artery and it being lodged inside of him is the only thing stopping him from bleeding out. Gemma soon arrives and is relieved to see everyone in one piece; Clay informs her that other charters are coming down and the clubhouse needs to be stocked. Jax says that he will speak to Tara and see what medical equipment she can assist them in getting.

That night at the clubhouse, Gemma and Clay watch on as Tig and Opie prepare weapons for the inevitable war.

"Hell Followed"[]

At the clubhouse, Gemma is concerned as they haven't been able to locate Jax last night and today, Gemma wants to try and find him but Clay tells her to stay put. Piney and Opie agree to ride to St. Thomas to see if he may be there. Chibs then enters to inform Clay that he and Juice are still patching up Cameron, but Chibs is concerned he may have sepsis.

Donna arrives at the clubhouse furious with Opie. His boss from the lumber mill called and he will be fired unless he shows up to his next shift. Donna says Opie she will not put up with his devotion to the club anymore. As soon as Donna leaves Opie tells Jax he can't survive without the club and needs to earn as much as he can, he's all in, regardless of what Donna wants.

At the table, Clay addresses SAMCRO and the other charters who have come down. He states that what happened the previous night can never happen again, no more bodies can drop in Charming. Tig speaks up and says that SAMCRO did not attempt to kill the Nords, it was Alvarez who tried to kill Clay and Darby. However, if they retaliate, war is certain. Clay admits that he sat down with Alvarez, causing shock to ripple across the table. Clay says that he made a deal with Alvarez, the Sons will sell guns to the Mayans and all beefs will be ended, in Charming and out of state, no Sons will have issues with Mayans anymore. Juice enquires about the Sons deal with the Niners and selling guns to them, but Jax insists they have no real loyalty to the Niners and they also buy guns from other sources. Bobby admits he has concern that a deal with the Mayans could trigger something else with the Niners. Tig says that the Mayans still tried to kill him but Clay says that debt will be settled too, by another charter, he asks if Happy will do the deed and he of course agrees. The club vote on the deal and the majority are on board.

As the peace celebration rages on, another matter is bought to the rest of the club by Juice and Chibs. Cameron has stated that Hefner needs to die before Monday, or the most recent gun shipment will be taken. Cameron has offered the inital payment back and a free month of guns if SAMCRO handle it. The club briefly debate it but realise the pros outweigh the cons and the hit must be done. Opie is quick to step up, insisting that he can get it done. Clay agrees, Jax, Opie and Bobby are to carry out the hit.

The following morning Jax and Opie are waiting in the garage for Bobby to arrive. Opie says that Donna took the kids to her mother's. Opie tells Jax that he isn't doing the hit for the money, he is doing it to prove he is back in with SAMCRO. Opie also tells Jax that maybe he has something to prove too, according to what he has heard.

The hit trio head out to where Hefner will be and make a plan. Opie will kill Hefner, Bobby will be just behind him and Jax will act as the getaway driver. Hefner soon exits the apartment and locks eyes with Opie, who is unable to do the deed, Bobby is waiting close by and shoots Hefner numerous times in the chest, the trio then flee the scene.

"Better Half"[]

Opie approaches Clay and Bobby, he asks if he can get his money for the Hefner job, as he is 2 mortgage payments behind. Clay and Bobby agree but Clay presses Opie and asks if he is doing okay, he insists he is, just some family issues.

Opie returns home to deliver the cash to Donna, he sees she is packing and becomes enraged when she says she is going to find a place to live near her mother's. Opie yells at Donna, demanding to know why she didn't leave in the 5 years he imprisoned; he continues, saying that Donna knows the club is the only life Opie knows and that is how he earns, he is doing it for his family. If Donna can't accept that, she should go.

At the table, the club, joined by Unser who has been kicked out of his office to make way for the ATF discuss the recent return of Stahl. So far she has had Luann arrested on drug charges and Cherry on theft and arson. Unser says that Stahl is trying to use the RICO act to bring down the club, which will affect all of them, hence why he is sitting at the table. Jax says that Tara will never turn on the club and they have nothing to worry about regarding her. Bobby says that they can't get through to Otto, they have him on federal watch and he isn't allowed any phone calls. Jax theorises that Stahl is pressing Otto for history and using Luann as leverage. The club begin to grow concerned, knowing that Otto would do anything for Luann and Cherry also knows a lot of information about Indian Hills. The club devise a plan to use Unser and get Jax and Opie in to the police station to pass a message to Luann to warn Otto about Stahl using the RICO act, as the pair will most likely be allowed to see each other as some sort of leverage deal. They will also work on finding out where Cherry is. Clay, running out of ideas quickly agrees to Jax's plan, as does everyone else.

Jax, Opie and Unser then link up outside the police station, waiting for the distraction that Bobby, Piney and Tig are setting to begin, causing the cops to leave. Sensing that Opie is distant, Jax orders him to stay in the car and keep watch. Unser and Jax head inside.

"Capybara"[]

Late at night, Stahl returns to the Winston's residence, she takes Opie and the family in to federal custody and doesn't say much.

Stahl is questioning a confused Opie at the DoJ facility. She reveals she knows about the hit on Hefner which Opie denies, he says he wants his lawyer. Stahl continues to taunt Opie; asking him what the club will think when they hear that he willingly left with his family and find out that his bills have been paid. Opie realises he is being set up as the informant. Stahl says she can only hold him and his family for 48 hours and the real identity of the witness will not be revealed until the pre-trial at Bobby's hearing which could take a while. Opie tells Stahl he will tell the club the truth, she says that Clay won't believe him.

Donna is allowed to see Opie who tells Donna that Stahl has framed him and makes it look like he has turned on the club already. Donna attempts to convince him to work with Stahl, believing it is their only hope. Opie refuses, saying that living life in witness protection is barely a life.

Opie and Donna agree to leave the facility, Stahl tries to reason with them one final time but they are uninterested.

Jax meets up with Opie as the pair are going to travel to the clubhouse to clear Opie's name. They arrive at the clubhouse and everyone is happy to see Opie, they head in to Church. Opie speaks, telling the table that Stahl tried to set him up as a rat, he doesn't know who the witness is but it isn't him. Donna was also targeted but she turned down Stahl's deal, wanting to stay loyal to Opie. Tig then enters as Opie finishes his piece, he asks if he is good with the club and Clay confirms he is, banging the gavel as everyone stands to leave except for Tig and Clay.

"The Sleep of Babies"[]

At the table, Clay expresses concern about the club's current lack of cash. If they need to fund Bobby's legal defense, they are in trouble. He suggests selling the club's personal gun surplus to the Mayans and there is a level of disagreement. Clay says that if they sell the Mayans the guns, it will appear as a goodwill gesture and they will get a good payout. Jax protests but Clay admtis he is out of ideas. They formulate a plan and will do the deal in two separate locations, Tig and Opie drop off the guns in one location and Jax and Clay pick up the cash in another. Piney wants in also but Clay refuses, causing Piney to angrily storm out of Church.

Jax and Opie pack weapons for the Mayan deal and Jax admits to Opie that he isn't sure how much time the club have left with the recent heat on them if they continue with what they're doing. Jax references his father, telling Opie that he was smart and had ideas of legitimate ways that the club could earn money. Opie says that Clay will never get them out of guns and other members of the club might not be too keen. Opie steps out of the room as Donna has arrived. Donna says that Mary wants to take the kids to Fun Town but she wanted to check with him first, Opie agrees and Donna tells Opie he should talk to his mother again. Opie and Donna also agree to go to Jax's coming home party for Abel later.

Tig and Opie drive to the gun drop off, they discuss their families and Tig tells Opie that he only sees his daughters twice a year, it used to be hard for him but not so much nowadays.

Tig and Opie drive to the gun drop off, they discuss their families and Tig tells Opie that he only sees his daughters twice a year, it used to be hard for him but not so much nowadays. They enter the warehouse and meet with Mayans to collect the money when Niners burst in and start shooting, Tig is caught in a dead end and is almost shot when Opie appears and saves Tig's life, killing his attacker, he and Opie bail from the warehouse.

Everyone regroups at the clubhouse as Tig, Clay, Jax and Opie discuss that both parties were jumped by Niners at their collection points. The club are in a real rough spot with no money and no guns. Jax and Opie head out as Jax needs to pick Abel up from the hospital.

At Abel's coming home party, Opie and his family prepare to leave, Donna tells Opie that she wants to stay behind to help Gemma clear up, the pair switch cars as Opie gets in her car to drive the kids home and Donna gets in the truck to head in to town to get some cleaning supplies for Gemma.

With news of a shooting, SAMCRO race downtown, they find Donna dead. Opie arrives at the traffic lights where he sees the bloodied corpse of Donna, he drops to his knees and sobs as he holds her. Chibs and Jax drag him away.

Opie is at home sobbing while his kids sleep, unaware of what happened to their mother.

"The Revelator"[]

Jax goes to visit Opie. Opie confesses he blames himself for what happened as it's related to the club, Jax tries to comfort him but his words fall on deaf ears; Opie knows it is his fault Donna is dead.

Later the club learn from the SAMCRO lawyer that Opie is finally going to be pulled in for his part in the murder of Hefner, the same day as Donna's funeral. The only hope the club have of keeping Opie out of jail is by finding the witness and dealing with them.

Jax visits the station and Hale tells him exactly what he told Unser, Jax knows that it was down to Clay to have Opie killed.

The club makes plans to assault the safehouse and deal with the witness. Stahl visits Bobby in jail and tells him what has happened as he is unaware. He learns that Donna is dead and it was the club who killed her thinking he was Opie, she then tells him that Opie will be arrested the following day after Donna's funeral and the prosecutor will seek the death penalty for both of them.

Jax confronts Clay about the truth about Opie but Clay lies and tells him that he would never try to hurt Opie or Donna. SAMCRO deal with the witness.

The following day, the club ride with Donna's funeral procession to the graveyard. Many associates, friends and family are also present. Jax arrives late, looking worse for wear, Tara stands and places his kutte on him, before kissing him passionately. Jax briefly pays his respects to Donna before taking off.

Season 2[]

"Albification"[]

Jax visits Opie to catch him up on the new Irish deal, he explains that they are going to run handguns down the coast but keep supplying weapons to Oakland, there will be a Church meeting later to iron everything out, they wanted to wait until Opie was back at the table.

In Church, the club discuss revenge for Opie as Tig and Clay bring new evidence that it wasn't the Niners, this is backed by Clay and Piney who went to speak to Laroy directly. They concur that the Mayans are responsible. Opie says he wants to kill the Niner responsible, Opie, Tig, Chibs and Jax will head out to handle the business, everyone leaves.

The Sons track the Mayan that Trammel supplied them intel with, he is Elian Perez. They follow him and are able to knock him off his bike and after a brief chase, they capture him. Opie puts a gun to Perez' head and demands he tell the truth about what he did to Donna. Perez pleads for his life, telling Opie that he isn't responsible, Jax drags an angry Opie away and tries to talk him in to killing the Mayan quickly, Opie wants to remove any doubt that he is responsible, however. Opie isn't interested in discussion and says he wants the truth, Jax would do the same for Tara. The trio return, having left Tig with Perez and see that Perez has been shot in the face by Tig. Tig frantically explains that he reached for his gun and he had to shoot him. Jax tells Opie that should be all the proof he needs, he draws his own pistol and finishes Perez before cutting an anarchy symbol in to his chest, saying that he wants Alvarez to know.

Later, at Bobby's welcome home party; Piney tells Opie he needs to be a better father as he has been dodging his kids since the incident.

A car rolls in to the lot and a group of men emerge, the Sons approach them with Clay telling them that the garage is closed. The lead man, Ethan Zobelle explains that he isn't there for repairs, he is there to give some advice to the Sons to stop selling guns to the Mayans and the Niners. The Sons laugh at him, with Clay giving the classic response that they are just motorcycle enthusiasts. Tig whispers to Clay that one of the men is a Nord and Zobelle confirms this, explaining that they are business parters with Darby. Clay looks Zobelle up and down, realising that they are white supremacists. Tig draws his gun and Zobelle addresses him by name, saying that he isn't going to shoot him with all these witnesses. He tells Clay that his cigar shop will be opening in a few weeks and leaves him with a gift of a cigar box until then, stating that he knows they are his favourite.

The celebrations rage on as Bobby is dropped off at the clubhouse by Stahl, finally free from prison after all the cases against him were dropped due to lack of evidence.

Opie later leaves the party and returns home to see his kids are sleeping.

"Small Tears"[]

The Sons arrive at St. Thomas, Tara soon arrives to speak to them and informs them that Gemma was in a car accident, her face is pretty beaten up but she will be fine after they run some further tests. Unser approaches the Sons, telling them that Luann's porn studio has been hit and the feds have taken everything.

Opie and Tig put guns together for the Niners who are looking to buy, expecting the Mayans to come for them after the death of Elian Perez. Tig tells Opie he's not alone.

Jax rallies the guys to attack Georgie Caruso's studio after he hurt one of Luann's girls. They beat him, his crew and break his equipment.

At Church, Jax propses an idea to make Luann an official partner, they rent out the unused gun warehouse, they provide the muscle and split the profits with Luann, it's easy money, and it's a legitimate business, the club take a vote and it passes unanimously.

Later that night, SAMCRO head to the gun deal with the Niners, they are selling them 12 AK's after the Niners believe the Mayans will soon be acting against them. The trade is jumped by the Mayans, Bobby is shot and the weapons are stolen, Clay returns the money to Laroy, telling him they will get him more guns. Recklessly, Opie stands while bullets rain around him as he brazenly walks up to the Mayans truck, shooting and killing one of them as they escape. Clay looks concerned as Opie rides away.

"Fix"[]

Opie and Half-Sack are out repossessing cars when they see a man selling drugs, they approach him and Opie warns him not to deal in Charming, the man retorts that he isn't anyone and some muscle appear, they are the Aryan Brotherhood. Opie begins to walk towards the three armed men but Half-Sack is able to convince him to back down.

Later on, Juice has finished gathering intel on Zobelle and the League, a white supremacist organisation that paid the Sons a visit on the night of Bobby's party, they threatened the Sons and warned them to stop dealing guns to the Mayans and the Niners. As expected, Juice has discovered that Zobelle is a saint, he owns 5 cigar shops named "Impeccable Smokes" and he is a deacon at his church, he is widowed and has a daughter. Jax notices that the last place Zobelle had a cigar shop was in San Bernardino and a local MC called the War Boys Motorcycle Club attacked Zobelle's shop, causing them all to get arrested and the club to crumble. Clay mentions that the War Boys ran guns prior to being taken down. SAMCRO realise that Zobelle is trying to take down MC's to prep his own organisation for a race war, Jax becomes concerned that perhaps he has already gotten to Hale, Hale has never taken a bribe from the Sons before but perhaps Zobelle has what he wants, the key to get rid of SAMCRO from Charming. Opie is also tasked with tracking down Darby's meth labs, out on a reposession job earlier, he and Half-Sack found Darby was dealing again inside Charming.

Tig, Chibs, Juice and Opie head out to deal with the Darby issue, Juice poses as a buyer and is able to lure one of the dealers away, the Sons ambush him and are able to get information about where Darby's crank house is.

In Church, Opie explains what they discovered after pressuring the crank dealer, they know where Darby is cooking. A discussion over how to deal with the problem comes up and the club theorise a good way to tell if Hale is working for Zobelle is if he ignores the tipoff that the Sons are going to give him. If he does nothing with it, they handle the problem themselves by blowing up the house.

Hale makes a phone call to Jax, he tells him that the information on the drug lab was useless before hanging up the phone. Jax says they should get their explosives.

Under the cover of darkness, SAMCRO head to the crankhouse to deal with it, they lay explosives and then bait the occupants in to coming outside and fleeing, Opie then lights the explosives from the inside and barely makes it out in time as the house erupts behind him.

Later that night, there is a party at Cara Cara. Jax tells Opie that he taking too many risks, today with the explosives and at the Mayan shootout the other day. Opie says he is just doing what he has to for the club, Jax reminds him that he has his kids to look out for. The pair see Tara arrive and get in to an arguement with Ima Tite, one of Luann's girls, Tara storms off to the bathroom.

"Eureka"[]

At the clubhouse, the club prepare to go on their blood drive charity ride, which is really an excuse to run guns for the IRA. The Sons mock Half-Sack as he explains that he is getting a testicle implant, he lost one of them during his time in Iraq.

The club meet up with Cameron and Edmond to collect their guns. Emond mentions that Jimmy O'Phelan, the de facto leader of the True IRA may be coming to the US soon. The club looks uneasy as they stare at Chibs, he says, "Their day will come". Chibs has history with the True IRA, and specifically with Jimmy.

As the club ride out again, Bobby has trouble with his vintage bike and accidentally crashes in to Tig, sending him flying off the road and down an embankment, his leg is badly injured. An ambulance is called for Tig who is too injured to ride and he is transported to a local hospital. Clay is furious with Bobby, telling him that he has to wipe Tig's ass if necessary. Jax says they will call Piney to bring the flatbed to transport Tig's bike home. Inside the hospital, a nurse explains to Bobby that Tig's insurance won't cover an out of town visit and he needs to be transferred. The club are furious as Tig and Bobby begin dishing out abuse at the hospital workers.

Clay receives a call from Bobby, he has even more bad news, Tig has been picked up by bounty hunters, Half-Sack is trailing then. Clay says if Tig had any warrants he would know about it, Jax says that it could be an out of state warrant. The clug argue about if they should rescue Tig or deliver the guns. Clay is hellbent on doing so, but his arthiritis gets the best of him as he tries to ride away and he falls from his bike. He staggers away clutching his hands. Opie speaks privately to Clay, reassuring him that he has his back, but they must rescue Tig. They return to Chibs and Jax and they agree to save Tig.

Happy, Half-Sack, Piney and Bobby rejoin the rest of the club. Half-Sack has tailed the bounty hunters and he knows where they are keeping Tig. He explains they beat him up on the side of the road and they took him to a local motel, most likely to patch him up, otherwise they cannot turn him in. An arguement breaks out between Jax and Clay. Clay wants Tacoma to come down and grab the guns before they get Tig, Jax says they should go right now as they don't know how long they are going to keep Tig in the motel for. Jax says Clay must call a vote and Clay shoves him, the others jump in to separate them as Bobby steps between them, explaining this is all his fault and everyone needs to calm down, then they will figure out what to do.

Jax storms off and finds Piney pulling away in the flatbed, passing him a shotgun he tells him to jump on and they can save Tig right now, Jax orders Chibs, Happy and Half-Sack to join him and they agree, jumping on the back of the flatbed as Bobby, Opie and Clay stare on.

The club reunite after Tig is saved. Tensions continue to run high as Jax accuses Opie of taking Clay's side. The drop off is completed and they meet the Joilette Charter halfway, delivering the guns.

Later on as the club party with other Oregon charters, Bobby states that when they're home, he is going to lock Clay and Jax in a room and get them to settle their beefs. Chibs says Clay can't handle getting older and Jax pushing him out. Opie chimes in and says Jax needs to get over his father issues and that Clay isn't going anywhere.

"Smite"[]

Opie meets Lyla Dvorak, a porn star who works for Luann who has come to the garage for car repairs. Opie gets another mechanic to give Lyla a lift to her son's school.

The Sons ride to Zobelle's cigar shop, Clay enters and threatens Zobelle, telling him he will need to pay protection money if he is going to operate inside Charming. He exits, having stolen a stack of expensive cigar boxes and begins to dish them out to the other Sons as he exits.

Clay, Tig and Opie pay a visit to Oswald, they know that his land is in danger of being bought out by the county. Oswald says he has little choice to sell as Jacob Hale Jr., David Hale's older brother and politician is putting together investors to turn the place in to houses. Clay says he wants to do some digging and not to sign off on anything just yet. The Sons then discuss Otto being attacked in prison by members of the Aryan Brotherhood, they want to retaliate but are unsure if they are going to win the vote when it comes to the table. Clay tells Tig that he needs to talk Juice around as Jax and Piney will likely be against retaliation.

The trio then head to speak to Unser to try and see if he knows anything about the names on the letter that Oswald provided them with. Unser says he doesn't and he will do some digging. Clay warns him to keep it away from David, as both Hale brothers could be on the League's payroll. Outside the barbershop, they see Weston in the street, they exit and approach him. Jax suddenly arrives, driving in front of Opie and trying to stop him from attacking Weston. Weston responds by pushing over Jax's bike, causing Jax to attack him and Tig and Opie jump in too as Clay watches on.

Everyone is arrested, Hale comes to free them all and tells Clay and Jax that he needs to speak to them alone.

At the table, the decision to vote on retaliation after Otto was attacked in prison has to be made. Clay says that he knows they are trying to lay low after just losing the ATF, but Zobelle has been underestimated, he can do real damage to the club. Clay continues, saying if they don't act now, they will appear weak. Jax speaks up, saying he agrees with Clay, but retaliation right now is not a good idea, the League aren't fools and they are protected on both sides of the law, they will be going in blind. Blowing up the crank lab was planned, he presents a DVD which has footage of Opie doing the deed on it that was supplied by Hale. Zobelle isn't like their other adversaries, he is using the law to get to them, rather than taking it in to his own hands. He expects and wants the Sons to retaliate. The Sons should be patient and wait to learn more before attacking back. The vote is called. Clay, Tig, Opie and Juice land on retaliation, Jax, Chibs, Bobby and Piney land on no. It ends with 4-4, no majority, meaning no retaliation

Lyla returns to collect her car and gives Opie her number.

A broken down car is being wheeled in, Chibs jumps inside to try and start it but hears a sound which causes him to dive out of the car and run for his life, the car explodes behind him, sending him flying through the air, he lies in a pool of blood as everyone surrounds him.

"Falx Cerebri"[]

In the immediate aftermath of the explosion, Chibs is carted off to hospital.

Back in Church, Clay says that Unser is getting them Zobelle's home address. Clay demands retaliation after Zobelle tried to have 2 SAMCRO members killed in 24 hours. Nobody objects this time.

Jax heads to speak to Opie immediately after, telling him that he needs to see his family more. Opie tells Jax to worry about himself, specifically his beef with Clay. Jax is clearly trying to take over and force Clay out; Opie says that it isn't his time and it is still Clay's club.

The following morning, Edmond has arrived, he is extremely concerned with the explosion, saying it is going to bring the feds back around. Clay assures Edmond to return to Cameron and tell him there will be no problem, it will be resolved. Unser approaches and gives them the home addresses of Zobelle and Weston, Juice is ordered to stay behind and clean the crime scene best he can, Jax goes to see Chibs in hospital. Opie warns Clay that Jax definitely isn't on board with retaliation and he is sure he is working something else.

Opie tails Jax to Darby's workshop, he questions why he is there and he claims he was hoping Darby would divulge Weston's address to him. Opie is suspicious that Hale is there also but tells Jax they can ride back together.

As Jax and Opie ride back together, Jax blows a red light, causing Opie to get left behind as he is stuck behind traffic.

SAMCRO make their way to Weston's house, the find Jax and Hale already there, gunshots ring out and they return fire before entering, they find Weston's children inside, having fired at Jax. They are able to disarm them and it is clear that Jax is doing his own thing. Tig receives a call from Unser, telling them that they were unable to stop the forensic team.

Furious, they head to Zobelle's cigar shop, they watch on as Clay trashes the inside of it.

At the clubhouse, Juice was able to hack Weston's stolen laptop and they believe they know where he is, at a Christian centre holding a rally, the club arm up and head out.

They arrive at the church and they plan to just grab Zobelle, Jax admits that he has been working with Hale all day, there will be a lot of Aryans inside and it might not be so simple, the sheriffs are also on their way to pick up Zobelle. Clay says they better move quickly then and the club arm up. They disarm the security outside and breach the church, but are shocked to see it is just a normal party, there are no Aryans besides Zobelle and Weston present. A shot rings out and everyone begins scrambling, SAMCRO flee the church as Opie heads after Zobelle by himself. Opie gives chase but eventually crashes his bike after running an intersection, losing Zobelle. He races back to the church and sees that the rest of SAMCRO are already being arrested.

"Gilead"[]

With SAMCRO in jail and Opie the only one left standing on the outside, he has a lot to deal with, matters are made worse when Mary arrives at the garage with Opie's kids meaning he will have to look after them today.

Opie receives a call from Clay on the inside, he is tasked with getting Venus Bell, a dealer on the outside arrested to buy the Sons protection on the inside.

Opie meets with Vic Trammel, another cop on the SAMCRO payroll to get him to frame Venus, the dealer on the outside by planting drugs in their car. He enlists the help of Lyla and asks if she can get her dealer to get him some drugs to use to frame Venus. Lyla is sceptical but Opie promises that nothing will come back to her if there is a problem.

Lyla's dealer, Angus, arrives and Opie beats him and takes the drugs, threatening him to not come back. Opie then breaks in to Venus' car and plants the drugs, Trammel watches and then moves in for the arrest but he is shot by Venus when he approaches the car. Opie drives to Trammel and calls for backup.

Opie returns to Luann's studio to thank Lyla for her assistance, Lyla offers to look after Opie's kid, he is hesitant but accepts. He makes it clear to Lyla that he doesn't want his kids to be around him anymore because of who he is and what he does.

Opie later goes to collect his kid's from Jax's house. Gemma and Tara had refused to let Lyla take Opie's kids. He apologises for the Lyla issue and says he trusts her but Tara isn't sure. He explains that Mary has left town and he is on his own with the kids again, Tara tries to convince Opie he isn't alone but he thinks he is.

The rest of the club is bailed from jail after some hard work from Gemma and Opie.

"Potlatch"[]

Half-Sack has returned to the clubhouse after his neutical surgery, Tig, Bobby and Happy examine it, with the trio noting that it seems to be larger than it's supposed to be. Opie arrives, and the group sit down to discuss the beef with Clay and Jax. Bobby says that whatever is going on between them is worse than Zobelle and the ATF, that alone can destroy them. Opie says he can talk to Jax and try to figure it out, whilst Tig will speak to Clay. After they know the truth, they can take it to the table to try and resolve. Jax then arrives, he says that the Chinese have called and want a sit down, he is going to Cara Cara

The club sit down for a meeting with Lin, he explains that their gun distributor is currently unavailble and they need hardware, he specified AK's, noting that he will pay the club double what he normally would. He offers a gift as a show of good faith and Chuckie, (missing all but his two index fingers) is dragged in. Clay initially refuses the offer of Chuckie, telling Lin he will let him know about the guns. Chuckie pleads with Clay, saying they will just kill him if SAMCRO doesn't take him in. Tig tells Lin that they will take him, he can do the books at Cara Cara to free up Bobby.

The club exit with Chuckie in tow, Tig questions if they are really going to get the IRA guns with Stahl and the ATF back in town, especially seeing as Clay learned from Stahl inside of jail that the IRA are also possibly selling to the League. Clay says they will set up a meet with Edmond and feel him out, Stahl could be lying, after all. Opie says he is going to Cara Cara and is ordered to take Chuckie with him to put him to work. Clay says he wants the guys to stay available.

Arriving at the Cara Cara, Jax finds chaos, Luann tells him that someone broke in, stole her equipment and killed the guard dog that Jax bought for the studio. Inside, Jax, Bobby, Opie and Luann realise that it must be Georgie who is responsible and head to deal with him. Bobby and Jax are shocked to see Chuckie outside, Opie says that it was a gift from Lin, who the club met with earlier to discuss selling AK's to once again. Chuckie explains that Lin has been losing heroin turf to the Mayans and is trying to take over the One-Niners turf, that is why he needs the guns. Jax says that on the way to Georgie's studio perhaps they should pay a visit to Laroy.

Outside Jax is surprised to see Chuckie. Opie, Bobby and Jax listen intently while he spills some inside information about the Lin Triad and their ongoing war with the Mayans. This is why he wants guns and is pushing Niners turf, they decide to check in with Laroy on their way to Georgie's studio.

They arrive at Georgie's studio, with Chuckie being sent in to lure out Georgie's muscle and confirm his presence. The trio then storm on and Georgie immediately pulls a gun on them, letting off a round before he is knocked to the floor. Chuckie eventually enters with Georgie's bodyguard. He is ordered to get the cameras that were stolen, he returns with them and Jax drowns Georgie's laptop whilst taking back Luann's. Opie threatens Georgie, saying if he comes near Lyla again, he will kill him.

They then head to the Niners bar to see Laroy, Chuckie is ordered to wait outside. The club casually walk through the bar in to the back room and are shocked to see Mayans there, they try to slip away but are quickly caught and held at gunpoint.

As the club await their fate, their phones ring, Opie expects it to be Clay, wondering where they all are. Opie says that he heard Jax and Clay got in to it in jail. Jax says that he cannot talk to him about everything anymore, Jax fears that Opie is getting in too deep with Clay and he is losing all his friends.

Alvarez soon arrives, explaining that the Niner clubhouse is now owned by the Mayans. Alvarez tells them that the truce they had, is long over. He tells his guys to cut them loose but to take their kutte's. Jax refuses, telling Alvarez he will have to kill him first; Alvarez draws a gun on Jax, who is unphased. Bobby says that Alvarez may want to think again before killing the VP of the mother charter of the Sons. Alvarez relents, telling the Sons if they come to Mayan territory again, they won't leave.

They return to Gemma's house for dinner in time to see Lyla storming out. She is furious over the disrespect she receives from the other women of SAMCRO. Back inside another brawl nearly erupts when half the club lost their gun shipment as Bobby, Opie and Jax were not around to help. Hale arrives to deliver the harrowing news that Luann has been found dead. Clay immediately knows Jax is behind the payback for what happened and the night ends in disaster as the club is in disarray, tensions running higher than ever.

"Fa Guan"[]

Clay, Opie and Bobby attend a gun meet with Lin. Rosen calls Clay and they learn that the surveillance video from the Christian centre of the Sons attacking it with guns is quite poor, and a lot of families do not want to testify against the Sons, things are looking hopeful. Lin arrives and Clay has to disappoint him, he is unable to get him the AKs he wanted. They are able to strike a deal with Lin, he needs a judge dealt with who could prosecute one of his heroin suppliers. Lin says that if they sort this, he will get them a pipeline.

Tig and Opie enter Church, they explain that they have information on the judge that Lin needs pressured, Clay suggests they use the judge's son as leverage. Tig becomes angry when Clay orders him to sit this one out and to go and test the Chinese guns instead.

Opie visits Lyla, the pair agree to meet later on today before passionately kissing.

Opie, Bobby and Jax set out to go to the judges house. Jax has taken Happy's place unbeknownst to Clay. They capture the judge and bring him inside his house. The judge's son, Alex Franklin arrives unannounced and immediately begins arguing with his father. The club are worried as they were going to use the son as leverage but with the father and son clearly not getting along, they have nothing to use against the judge. Opie threatens Alex and even shoots him in the foot but the judge will not back down. Opie loses his cool and heads outside. They are eventually able to persuade the judge after threatening to destroy his dead wife's belongings.

Back at TM, Jax is furious to learn from Bobby that Clay wants to shut Cara Cara down. He storms in to Church and tells Clay that porn is a good business. Clay says they have a new gun source so they no longer need it, and adds on that autorepair is also a legitimate business, that doesn't make his skin crawl. Jax argues that the gun business has cost lives and money, they have lost far more than they have earned. Clay tells Jax that he had Luann killed and tied the club to prostituion. Jax smirks, asking Clay if he is really going to lay the death of a SAMCRO old lady on him. Clay tells Jax that he will make good on that promise he made him, Jax takes out his gun and cocks it before handing it to Clay and turning his back, daring him to shoot him. Clay hesitates before dropping the gun. Jax tells Clay that he needs a majority vote to shut down Cara Cara, they will vote tomorrow.

Opie and Bobby suit up to handle the judge business, Opie is surprised to see that Jax in inside the truck instead of Happy, Bobby and Jax explain that Jax wants to get back in to guns so is coming along, Clay has approved it all.

Jax, Bobby, Opie and Tig head out to the judge's house, they are able to capture him and his son, who assaults his father when accused of bringing the Sons here because of a drug debt he owes. The Sons realise they won't be able to leverage the son against him, as they clearly aren't on the best of terms. An enraged Opie shoots Alex Franklin in the foot, before threatening to kill him in front of his father. Anthony won't budge, refusing to look as Opie jams the gun barrel down Alex's throat. Opie caves, unable to kill the man he is dragged away by Jax. The Sons are eventually able to crack Anthony, Bobby has located a shrine to his dead wife, they threaten to destroy everything unless he throws out the case tomorrow.

The following day, Tig, Clay and Bobby discuss last night's events. The case was dismissed by the judge, Lin's contacts are safe and the Chinese hardware is up to scratch.

"Balm"[]

At the clubhouse, Clay has just gotten off the phone with Rane Quinn, President of the Nomad charter; the Nomads have accepted Jax's request to transfer after Cara Cara burned down the previous night and Jax blames Clay, wanting to finally leave SAMCRO after their months of hostility.

At the clubhouse, Chibs has finally been released from hospital, everyone else is glad to see Chibs safe and sound. Chibs is immediately confrontational to Clay, demanding to know why he wasn't informed of the recent developments surrounding the IRA, the League and Jax going Nomad. Clay tells him that they wanted him to heal, to whic Chibs replies that he is all better. Tig says they can discuss it all at the table later.

Opie and Half-Sack head out on a repossessing run, they find themselves on the Wahewa Tribe land. They repo a woman's van and return it to TM. Half-Sack begins to rife through its contents and discovers it is full of homemade bullets. Tig and Clay are called over to examine and the group agree to return to speak to the Wahewa woman.

Clay, Tig, Opie and Half-Sack head back to the Wahewa land to speak to the woman. They discuss with her son and Clay gives them an offer they can't refuse, sell them their homemade bullets or they will crush their business. They check out how the tribe make their bullets, the son explains to Clay that they also sell their bullets to the local police and they can craft any type of bullet the Sons could need. One of the men offers Clay some magic mushrooms, asking if they know a distributor, Clay says he could make a few calls, but he wants to sample the product, Half-Sack is ordered to eat the mushrooms to test them out, and Tig is encouraged also, to which he agrees.

At the table, Jax's Nomad vote is up, there are plenty of hesitant responses but the vote eventually goes through. Jax seems stoic, telling the table he will speak to Quinn before standing and cutting off his SAMCRO flashes from his kutte.

"Service"[]

The following morning at Church, the table is full, plenty of people are surprised to see the SAMCRO patches back on Jax's kutte as he sits at Clay's side once again. Jax explains that he isn't going Nomad and Clay explains why, Gemma was assaulted and raped by the League. The table is furious at Clay's bombshell and voices begin to raise demanding blood. Jax and Clay silence their brothers, explaining that they need to be patient and find a weakness, their gun charges are still pending and a show of force will land them right back in jail, exactly what Zobelle wants. Clay demands SAMCRO swallow the urge to kill any League members until they have a final plan. The topic of their gun problems arise, with Clay explaining there has been a delay in getting the Chinese guns, they will need to tap in to their personal stock.

Tig swerves his way back to TM and finds Opie working on a bike. Opie suspects that Tig is acting suspiciously and asks him what's wrong. Tig asks Opie on the night that Donna was killed, why was she driving his truck. Opie's head spins as he explains why before pondering why Tig would ask him that. Tig begins to cry as he tearfully tells Opie that it wasn't supposed to be her in the truck. Opie lunges at him, brutally beating him senseless. Opie screams at Tig, demanding to know what he has done; Tig coughs out that it was Stahl, she made Opie look like a rat, she wired his truck, sent money to his bank account, she is the reason Donna is dead. Tig and Clay didn't want to believe it but they had to act. Tig reiterates that it was supposed to be Opie in the truck. SAMCRO soon arrive and stop the fighting and Opie flees.

Opie tracks Stahl to Charming PD and begins to tail her and the other agents as she leaves. He follows her and observes her meeting with Chibs, to his horror.

Opie continues to track Stahl to the marina, he follows her back to her car and shoves a gun in her face. Stahl tries to act brave but realises that Opie has figured out the truth about Donna. Stahl tries to spin it to blame Clay but Opie isn't listening. He hesitates, before unloading the clip and stuffing it in to Stahl's hand, telling her, "The outlaw had mercy".

Jax returns to the clubhouse to speak to Opie. Opie is angry at Jax, saying that he knew the whole time Donna was killed by Clay and Tig. Jax says that he couldn't tell him the truth, things were bad enough. Opie breaks down, asking Jax what he should do. Opie tells Jax that he wants to take the club away from Clay. Jax tells Opie he wants him to read JT's manuscript on SAMCRO.

The club later sits at the table, with the discussion being the death of Donna, now that everyone knows the truth. Opie says that he isn't going to leave the club, and the secret dies today, never to be mentioned again. Opie also admits that he went looking for Stahl to kill her, he ended up seeing Chibs leaving her office with paperwork. Opie tells Clay he musn't jump to conclusions, he needs to hear what Chibs is going to have to say.

Jax then says that he saw the League meeting with Alvarez earlier, Jax theorises that Zobelle doesn't truly care about the race war, he just wants to be rich and powerful. At their meeting earlier, Weston was nowhere to be seen, he is likely doing the business with the Mayans behind his back. Clay says that it sounds like something they can unravel. Chibs enters and asks to speak to the table. He confesses to the club that Stahl approached him and offered him a deal, Chibs has foolishly accepted but nothing is official, Stahl offered immunity for Chibs' family and the club. The deal hasn't gone through as Edmond turned on Cameron already; if Cameron gives up Jimmy, Stahl is going to tell the IRA that Chibs started everything, putting his family in danger. Clay tells Chibs that he didn't make any deal, things can still be fixed. The meeting is interrupted when without warning, Piney bursts through the doors and begins shooting at Clay. He misses and is quickly restrained, Clay stands and attempts to attack Piney back but he is held back also. Opie asks for the room.

Opie approaches Clay after and says that Piney did what he had to do as he thought that Opie would be trying to kill Clay also, he didn't want that burden to be on him. Clay hisses that there is probably some truth to that and Opie agrees. Opie says that he wants Clay to give Piney a pass, he has nothing without the club. Piney goes to leave, Clay tells him that he should never enter the clubhouse again without his kutte, Piney retorts that it won't happen again.

"The Culling"[]

With a war with the League fast approaching, SAMCRO go in to lockdown, families and friends pile in to the clubhouse to keep everyone safe whilst the Sons handle business. Clay speaks to the masses, telling them the club is embarking on a mission that could put members in danger, everyone is safe under SAMCRO's roof. SAMTAC have also come down to provide backup.

In Church, the club discuss their plan to deal with the ATF heat and Stahl breathing down their necks. Chibs is still concerned that Jimmy is going to hurt his family after Stahl exposes him as a rat, Jax tries to reassure him. Unser steps forward and gives the club some images of Zobelle meeting with the IRA, with these images they should be able to convince Jimmy that the betrayal is from Edmond and Cameron, not from SAMCRO.

Jax, Juice and Opie head in to town to speak to Weston, they tell him that Zobelle has been working with the Mayans behind his back, knowing this will get Weston furious, as he is a true supremacist, unlike Zobelle. Jax tells him that the guns the League stole from SAMCRO went straight to the Mayans and Zobelle met with Alvarez yesterday for a heroin pipeline discussion.

Using Chuckie as a distraction, the Sons are able to lead the ATF away from Edmond's stash house, they meet Jimmy there and pick up their guns.

The Sons then ride to the camping shop, knowing the ATF is on them. They enter the business and Stahl isn't far behind, they are all detained and the box in the SUV that left with a 'fake' Jimmy in is bought inside. Edmond is also dragged in by the ATF, confirming to the Sons that he has turned. The crate is opened and two dead rats lie inside, symbolosing Edmond and Cameron. With no Jimmy, no guns and no choice, Stahl lets the Sons go.

The Sons ride out to meet the League for their fight night, organised earlier by Jax and Weston. As expected, Weston has turned up with numerous men and weapons. Weston scoffs at them telling them "Fair is for losers, I'd rather win". Niners and Triad members armed to the teeth emerge from the trees, outnumbering the Aryans at least 4 to 1. Weston submits, telling his guys to drop their weapons. Jax suggests they stick to the plan and a mass brawl breaks out between the 20 men, every member of the Sons wins their 1 on 1 as sirens begin blaring. Hale arrives on the scene, furious at the Sons and the AB for getting in to it inside Charming. Weston is then arrested for arson by Hale. Clay tells Tig to call Unser and get him to move on the cigar shop.

SAMCRO soon arrive at the cigar shop and Clay hits Polly Zobelle, Zobelle's daughter. Unser jumps to his feet but Clay assures Unser that Polly is just as guilty as the rest of them as he takes his gun to her. Zobelle, hearing the commotion runs to the front of the store and is quickly restrained by the Sons. Clay puts his gun to Zobelle when suddenly Hale arrives with backup. Zobelle immediately tells Hale that the Sons are threatening his life. Unser pulls rank, telling Hale that he is still the Chief and he has the situation under control, he and the other deputies need to leave. The deputies comply, as Hale prepares to leave, Zobelle shouts that he and Polly are in posession of narcotics, one of the deputies pulls out a brick of heroin and Hale arrests them both. Jax tells Zobelle that they are going to kill him as he is taken away.

"Na Trioblóidí"[]

The Sons anxiously wait outside Charming PD, wanting to know the fate of both Zobelle and Weston. Unser exits and tells them that Stahl is in a meeting with the FBI and Zobelle, he has no more news.

Unser later approahes the Sons again, he tells them that both Zobelle and Weston are walking out today. Chuckie's eye witness testimony will not hold up as he is a convicted felon and Zobelle has been working with the FBI all along as an informant, giving them dirt on individuals that join L.O.A.N, allowing him to continue his illegal deeds with protection from above. The Sons prepare to tail Zobelle as he leaves, when suddenly Mayans arrive, they escort Zobelle away, looking to protect their business partner.

A stalemate is happening on main street in Charming. The Mayans are posted up outside Impeccable Smokes with Zobelle inside and SAMCRO are on the other side. Jax speaks to the rest of the crew and Unser tells them that Weston has now been released, he is stopping off to see his kids and then he is getting out of town. Jax, Chibs and Opie head out to deal with him.

As the trio track down Weston, they see that he is actually taking his son out with him, this concerns them and Jax orders for Unser to be called to find out what is going on. They make plans to deal with Weston when he has been separated from his kid. Weston is in a tattoo parlour but fortunately, the owner, Irish Freddy is a friend of the club and Opie gives him a call and asks him to assist in dealing with Weston. Opie gives Freddy a call and Freddy agrees to help, sending Weston to the bathroom is 5 minutes where the club will deal with him.

They make their way to the bathroom through a back door and wait for Weston's arrival. To the Son's shock, Weston enters with his son. Weston realises his time is up and accepts his fate. Weston’s main priority is keeping his son safe, and is allowed to give him some final words before telling him to never talk to the cops and sends him away. Weston calmly takes a seat in the toilet stall and bowing his head; Jax shoots him six times with a silenced pistol, killing him.

Back at the clubhouse, Jax tells the rest of SAMCRO that Weston is dead, the Sons make a toast, knowing only half the battle is won.

Soon, Juice calls Clay, telling him that Alvarez and Zobelle are on the move, SAMCRO arm up, ready to face the remanants of the League and the Mayans.

Soon, Juice calls Clay, telling him that Alvarez and Zobelle are on the move, SAMCRO arm up, ready to face the remanants of the League and the Mayans. They chase the Mayans and Zobelle on to the highway, using one of Unser's trucks, Happy, Piney and other Sons are able to get the jump on the Mayans, killing a few of them and sending Alvarez packing as Clay warns him this is his only chance to flee, Alvarez gathers his crew and races off, leaving Zobelle to flee in the car.

Juice calls the club seeing that Zobelle is finally preparing to leave. SAMCRO arm up as they begin to follow the Mayan convoy. Happy and Piney are able to kill some Mayans with a surprise attack from the back of a truck. Clay spares Alvarez and Zobelle takes off in the car himself. The club follow him to a rest stop but need to wait for it to clear out before taking care of Zobelle. Jax receives a panicked call from Tara and Opie, Chibs and Jax leave the rest of the club to deal with Zobelle while they race back to Charming.

Jax receives a call from Tara, she begins to explain that Gemma followed Polly Zobelle before Tara begins to yell on the other end before the line goes dead. Jax is concerned, telling Clay that he needs to return home and see what is going on. Opie and Chibs go with him. The trio race back to Jax's house and are met with the sight of Half-Sack dead on the floor, stabbed to death. They find Tara in the nursery tied up, she frantically tells them that Cameron has kidnapped Abel. A devastated Jax makes a call to Clay, explaining what has happened.

SAMCRO link up and give chase to Cameron who is heading for the docks, the Sons are too late and stand on the dock as Cameron races away in his boat with Abel on board.

Season 3[]

"SO"[]

The club head over to Jax's house, he is understanbly a wreck, barely moving and drunk and high. Tara explains to Clay that he has been like this since Abel's kidnapping. Chibs tells Jax that they have some information on a guy that made the fake ID for Cameron, they finally have a lead.

The club meet up with the document forger and are able to get some more information, it seems like Cameron is trying to leave the country but the forger says he didn't have a baby with him when he visited him. The club try to keep Jax hopeful as it means that Cameron is still in the states and they can get to him. The Sons then head to a marina to scout out a boat that could belong to Cameron, they find nothing of value and begin to look for evidence. Two men arrive and appear shifty, the Sons give chase and catch up to them and their large crew, guns are quickly drawn but Jax is able to diffuse the situation, explaining they just wanted some information. One of the men explains that Cameron traded some AK's and the boat for quick cash, Cameron didn't have a baby with him, however.

The club head to the Church for Half-Sack's wake. Kozik is present and he explains that he was hoping to jump charter to SAMCRO but he knows that Tig is likely to downvote him. Clay tells Kozik that they can handle Tig and get him on board.

As everyone regroups outside the church, a van pulls up and begins firing at the crowd, people dive for cover as bullets fly through the air. Numerous people are hit, including Chucky and a young boy, the most notable casualty of all being Hale, who was run over by the van driver and dragged along the street, Unser and Jacob rush to his aid but quickly realise that he is dead, his brains leaking on to the road. One of the shooters fell from the fan after Charming PD exchanged fire with the van. Overwhelmed with emotion and rage, Jax attacks the shooter, bursting through the cops and slamming the man's face against the road.

"Oiled"[]

Jax exits jail with Unser and meets the rest of SAMCRO outside. Unser tells them that there have no information on the funeral shooter, he isn't a Mayan and has no obvious affiliation. Unser says that his crew aren't handling the shooter's security at the hospital.

Eager to gain some information about the drive by. The club visit St. Thomas where the shooter is being held and with assistance from Chuckie gain access to his room and rough him up a little but are unable to get any information out of him. Partly, because Jax broke his jaw. Jax and Opie are able to deduce however that he is a member of the Calaveras Motorcycle Club. A puppet club for the Mayans.

SAMCRO then head to a sit down with Jimmy to clear the tension. Clay states that Gemma didn't kill Edmond, it was Stahl. Jimmy thinks about what he has heard and seems to believe them. The Sons then ask about Abel and Jimmy claims that his intel tells him that Cameron is still in the US, despite the Sons believing otherwise. Jimmy says if he hears anything, the Sons will hear.

The Sons link up with the Grim Bastards Lodi charter, their President, Taddarius Orwell "T.O." Cross agrees to help the Sons look for a Calaveras shotcaller whom they can interrogate about the shooting.

They enlist the help of a bounty hunter to get information on Cameron, they assist him with a capture and he agrees to work with them and find them something on Cameron.

With information gained about the Calaveras, SAMCRO pay a visit to the home of Hector Salazar, the President of the Calaveras, they beat him and his girlfriend, Luisa but he refuses to give up information about his club's partnership with the Mayans. After some convincing, Salazar gives up that his club is being patched over so they can push heroin for the Mayans in to Stockton prisons. The Sons contemplate killing Salazar but realise it will cause another war which they cannot get in to right now, they have too much on their plates.

In Church, the club learn that Cameron is in Vancouver with Abel after the bounty hunter supplied them with some images.

"Caregiver"[]

The Sons and the Bastards link up, the Bastards are given information on Mayan heroin movement and are asked by the sons for intel, T.O. explains that they'll need guns and Clay says he will be able to assist.

The IRA arrive for their gun deal and give Jax some more information about Cameron's whereabouts, stating that he is still in Vancouver, Jax almost gets violent when he is unable to get any more information from Luke Moran.

The Sons pay a visit to the Triad, attempting to buy more guns, the Sons realise their price is too steep and Lin offers an alternative, some of his clients want the Cara Cara girls for an evening, they agree on the deal. Jax asks Opie if he can get Lyla to assist in making the deal happen.

Jax, Opie, Chibs and Bobby then pay a visit to Sergio Coletti, the bounty hunter, he has a little more information on Cameron but nothing concrete, he has exhausted his abilities in the US, he tells SAMCRO that he has a Canadian contact who can assist them for a further $10k, the club agrees.

At the table, Jax explains that he is going to be heading to Canada to continue the search for Abel. Clay also explains to the rest of the table that their bail is being revoked and they will all have to go back inside, Jax tells the others that he can't ask them to take that hit and skip court or it will look bad on all of them, Clay says they will take a vote, everybody agrees to go to Canada with Jax to assist in the search for Abel. Bobby tells Jax that if he takes Gemma with him like he plans to, she is going to find out about Abel being kidnapped, Clay says they will tell her together.

Opie speaks to Lyla about the Chinese deal, Lyla agrees and says the other girls will be happy to get involved, Lyla says she will too to assist the club, despite Opie's pushback.

Jax, Bobby, Clay and Opie pay a visit to Oswald. The club explain that Jacob is using his influence to lock them back up until his trial. They then explain that they believe Abel is in Vancouver, Oswald immediately becomes concerned as he fronted the bail money to get the Sons out in the first place, if they skip court, he will forfeit it. Jax assures him they will be back for the hearing. Oswald tells them that whatever happens his chances of becoming mayor are ruined. Oswald tells Clay that they must go their seperate ways for now, they have become too closely aligned.

At the Chinese Cara Cara party, chaos erupts when Opie becomes enraged at Lyla servicing one of the Triad's associates, he attacks the man, causing the rest of the club to jump in too. Clay watches from the side and sarcastically notes to Lin that he hopes someone is filming.

Back at the clubhouse, Opie apologises to Jax about losing the Chinese guns for the Bastards. Jax says it was fine and it was a stupid idea anyway. He sarcastically remarks that he would do anything to have his woman go back to work whilst Opie would rather his didn't. Jax tells Opie that his father said that you either tell your old lady everything about the life or nothing at all. Opie remarks that he never told Donna anything.

Juice quickly gathers the club to show everyone what he has just been told by SAMBEL, it is a picture of a dead Cameron, meaning he was in Ireland, not Vancouver, but where is Abel?

"Home"[]

Jax receives a phone call from Jimmy telling him that when Cameron was killed Abel wasn't with him, meaning that he is still in Vancouver, Jax tells Jimmy that he doesn't believe him. Jimmy passes the phone to Liam O'Neill, a member of the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Clubm, Belfast charter, knowing Jax is more likely to believe a fellow Son. Liam confirms what Jimmy is saying and attempts to convince him to not come to Ireland.

SAMCRO go over the plan for retrieving Gemma and doing their gun drop, before heading to Canada to look for Abel. Opie produces a large wad of cash from his pocket, $10k to pay for the Canadian tracker, Opie explains he sold a vintage motorcycle for it and Jax is extremely grateful. Upon learning that the trio are in trouble, they race to where Happy, Bobby and Piney are with Rogue River in tow, they hold the rednecks that are trying to rob Piney's dealer at gunpoint and finally outnumber them. Honey is very grateful for the Son's assistance, she provides free meds for Piney, Happy and Bobby and tells the Sons to take whatever they stole from the rednecks, Piney assures her that Rogue River can assist if she ever runs in to trouble again.

Season 4[]

LylaOpieWedding

Opie and Lyla at their wedding.

Lyla and Opie were married in the Season Premiere, their wedding was also used as a cover to retaliate against the Russians for going after Jax in prison. Lyla telling Opie that she did not want to have kids.

When visiting her at work he finds her stash of birth control confirming that she does not want to stop working in the industry cause it is "all she knows". This really hurts Opie, inciting a one night stand with her porn star co-worker Ima (who also slept with Jax in season 3) at the club house. Lyla confesses to Opie that she had an abortion before he went to Belfast, which causes their relationship to slowly fall apart, and does finally snap when V-Lin is tasked to bring her to the SOA compound for protection during the heavy battles with Lobo Sonora she gives V-Lin the slip and bails on her new family after such a short time. When Opie does finally catch up with Lyla when looking for Georgie, Opie is cold and indifferent and says he does not blame her for leaving as he did not think it would work out anyways, Lyla responds with a verbal kick in the heart saying "nothing will work out until she (Donna) is dead".

Opie shooting Clay

He finds out that Clay killed his father Piney and is enraged that Clay has taken his wife, Donna, and his father away from him. Clay has to be stopped before he can hurt any one else he loves. He then immediately shoots Clay two times. In an attempt to stop Opie's rage, Jax shoots him in the wrist, then takes him to Piney's cabin, where he tells him to stay put until everything is cleared up.

Jax-and-Opie

Jax meeting with Opie before becoming SAMCRO President

Soon Jax returns. Opie asks him if Clay was dead, to which Jax replied "No", which angered Opie. Jax told him he would take the gavel and said that he wanted Opie to be his Vice-President—but he did not tell Opie the whole truth, which Opie already knew, so he was further angered. He told Jax that omitting the full truth is the same as lying, and doesn’t show up for Jax 's investiture as President of SAMCRO.

Season 5[]

Opie was out of the club for a short while because he was unable to sit next to the man who killed his father and was not willing to go along with Jax's plan of hiding the truth from the club. He was seen placing a for sale sign on Piney's motorcycle. After Clay visits Opie and tells him he shouldn't leave just because Clay is there, Opie decides to come back. He arrives at the clubhouse as Jax, Chibs, and Tig are surrendering into custody and punches Sheriff Roosevelt to force his arrest along with the others, in order to stay close and protect his brothers.

Opie just before his death

While incarcerated, Jax is forced to accept a deal under Damon Pope's terms: Tig is to remain in the pen, to be tortured forever and Jax must choose the life of another Son to give up in exchange for the freedom of the remaining two. Jax refuses to appoint one of his brothers as sacrifice and plans to offer up himself instead. Opie won't allow Jax to follow through with his plan and assaults the commanding, 'Solitary' Sergeant, thereby forcing himself into the role of sacrificial lamb. The irate Sergeant orders Opie be taken to the box, where he's left alone with a pipe to fight Pope's agents, 4:1 as the others watch helplessly, accepting his fate, Opie reassures them, saying "I got this." Opie initially puts up a fight, managing to wound several of his attackers, but is ultimately overpowered by them, and savagely beaten. Badly wounded, and with no strength to fight back, Opie looks to a horrified Jax, before he is struck in the back of the head with the pipe killing him. Afterwards, Jax brokers a deal with Pope that has the remaining three Sons, including Tig released from so he can use Tig's gratitude to his advantage to leverage Tig into siding with him. Pope agrees, impressed with Jax's ability to see the advantage in bad circumstances.

Jax vows to avenge Opie's fate. He later finds out the sergeant's name and murders both him and his wife. Jax and the sons also track down Randall Hightower (the inmate responsible for dealing the fatal blow to the back of Opie's head and the cousin of Grim Bastards president, T.O. Cross). Despite Cross's pleas, Jax orders Chibs to kill Randall, who repeats Opie's final words ("I got this") and shoots Randall in the back of the head, finally avenging Opie for good.

OpieGrave

Opie's grave.

Season 7[]

Opie's grave is briefly seen at the cemetery when Wayne Unser visits Tara's grave to lay flowers at it. ("Black Widower")

Jax visits Opie's grave at the cemetery and places his "SO" and "NS" rings on top of the tombstone. Later, Jax echos Opie's final words ("I got this") as his final line to the SAMCRO members before riding off to his death. ("Papa's Goods")

Murders Committed[]

Motorcycle[]

Opie's bike is close to Jax's bike in many ways. It is a 2003 Harley Davidson Dyna Super Glide Sport with front drag fairing, taped thunderheader exhaust and a custom badlander seat. Opie has embraced the SOA logo on a pile of skulls for his paint on the fuel tank. The engine has been black powder coated. He has drag bars with high risers for handlebars instead of the T-Bars that are common among the rest of the club.

Trivia[]

  • Opie is the third main character to die in the series.
  • As seen in A Mother's Work, he was buried next to his wife Donna Winston.
  • Opie, Piney, Gemma and Unser are the only main characters to appear as a corpse after the episode in which they are killed.
  • Opie, along with Jax, are the only known "Legacies" in SAMCRO. A "legacy" is biker terminology for being the offspring of a member, with said offspring eventually becoming members themselves of the MC.
  • In the Sons of Anarchy spin off series, Mayans MC. Happy is seen to have a pet dog also named "Opie", presumably after his fallen brother.
