Neron 'Creeper' Vargas was a member of the Mayans Motorcycle Club, Santo Padre charter and a major character on Mayans MC, a spinoff of the FX original series Sons of Anarchy. Played by American actor Joseph Raymond Lucero, Creeper makes his debut in the series' premiere, "Perro/Oc", in season one; playing a recurring role throughout the same and subsequent seasons.

Appearance and Style[]

Creeper stands at 5'10" tall, he is very muscular and is in great shape, his naturally skinny frame exemplifies this. Creeper is bald with a black moustache and goatee combination, he keeps this relatively short but it is sometimes longer. Whilst imprisoned in season five, Creeper grows a full head of hair which he keeps short and slicked back. Creeper's upper body is heavily tattooed, the majority of these are Lucero's real ink, he has the word "MAYANS" on his lower chest and "Mayans MC" on the left side of his neck; he has a deep scar on his neck on his aforementioned tattoo after he was grazed by a bullet and it was cauterized with a blade. Creeper has further scars on his abdomen after being shot 7 other times.

Creeper often wears plain vests or tshirts, usually black or white, combined with baggy blue jeans or black cargo trousers and white low-top Converse. On his wrist he wears a silver chainlink bracelet and a golden crucifix around his neck.

Creeper's kutte is quite basic, it is customised with green stitches around the sleeves and in 2021 he began wearing a "Los Asesinos De Dios" flash, it is unknown if he earned the flash at this time or chose to use it.

Biography[]

Creeper originated from Los Angeles, California. He had a rough upbringing and grew up with a drug addicted mother, despite his rough hand in life, he always put his two half-sister's before himself, ensuring they were fed and clothed. Just like his mother, Creeper turned to drugs early on in life to cope. Years later he was able to best his addiction and remain clean, not even drinking alcohol, as he is seen numerous times with only water while his brothers drink alcohol. Despite being a member of a motorcycle club, he is usually seen driving the van and very rarely riding a motorbike. It is also demonstrated that Creeper is a skilled vehicle mechanic and handyman, modifying both trucks as well as motorcycles.

Creeper is a fiercely loyal and fearless man, having no issues putting himself in harms way numerous times for the sake of his club and fellow brothers. So much so, that he keeps count of all the bullets he has taken for them. During the civil war, Creeper stayed loyal to Santo Padre and Bishop exclusively; having no issues with taking the lives of Mayans of other charters.

It is revealed through conversations with Kody, that Creeper is a sensitive man and often feels like the black sheep out of his Mayan brothers. He laments that when he was shot numerous times by B.T.T members, his brothers only laughed and no type of retribution was sought for him.

Creeper was incarcerated at Niland Correctional Facility. This is due to him taking the fall for numerous murders committed by the club; cementing his unfaltering loyalty. With danger and uncertain doom lurking around every concrete wall, Creeper refuses protective custody so he can continue with Mayan liaison. Tragically, his dedication to his club ends up costing him fatally.

Chibs also mentions the VM are going to be joining them for the meeting soon and Santo Padre admit they had a recent run-in with the club. Allesandro "Domingo" Montez, Road Captain of SAMCRO tells Santo Padre that he knows El Palo and if he is willing to sit at the table then things can be resolved.

Tucson Presidente Ibarra has come to the table. He needs the pipeline to continue to supply the prisons or brothers inside are going to die but Bishop refuses. EZ speaks up and says they are going to keep the heroin flowing to Arizona, the rest of the table goes ballistic but EZ silences them. He explains they keep Arizona in the loop to keep brothers inside safe. They take Canche out, taking his crown, using Tucson as the new conduit and work on making bigger less frequent runs that will go to Tucson who will distribute, making no need for Canche. They also remove Ramos leaving Bishop the one king. The club stares in stunned silence at EZ's insane plan but all seem to be in agreement.

Happy subsequently explains that Mayans are to give a call if they want to pass through SOA territory. Bishop is taken aback by the sudden hostility, but Montez and Happy elaborate that their attack on the VM has caused issues. Bishop congratulates EZ on his plan. Chaos erupts when Gilly spots border patrol is coming in full force, the club scramble to get the drugs back in the tunnel. New prospect Esteban "Steve" Estrada is ordered to slow down border patrol which he does by driving at them and swerving in front of their vehicles. Steve is the lookout and informs the group the distraction is working, which sets Bridge Over the River Kwai in motion. Gilly drives a truck up to the wall on the Mexican side of the border at the pre-determined location. Angel and Bishop are in a truck exactly opposite them on the US side. Ramps are put in place on both sides and it’s immediately apparent they’re a foot too short on the U.S. as well as on the Mexican side. EZ realizes there’s been an additional foot added to the wall’s height, and Bishop confesses he’s going off dimensions from back when Bush was president. Steve radios in that the border patrol are done with the kids and will be at their location in two minutes-ish. Bishop wants to call it off, but EZ has an idea. He takes two spare tires and places them flat next to the Mexican side of the wall.

Creeper drives the truck with the ramp onto the tires and the Mexican side is now tall enough for EZ to drive the truck over. EZ tells Coco to buckle up as it’s going to be a rough ride once they hit the top. (The truck has to fall a foot before landing on the other ramp.) So much could go wrong – including a tire popping – but fortunately nothing does. EZ, now with the drugs successfully over the border and on the U.S. side, zooms off to make the delivery. Angel sets the ramp on the U.S. side on fire as the Border Patrol’s sirens draw closer. Angel and Bishop jump the border to join the rest of the club.

Diaz is aware that Bishop wants to kill Ramos and Canche. Diaz tells Bishop that Ramos reached out to him for his support against Santo Padre. Bishop argues that the club is becoming an organisation, only caring about money. Bishop asks Diaz to join him against the other Kings so the club can become what they used to be, as Diaz once knew it. Diaz seems to agree and shakes hands with Bishop. He says they will ride out together once they find where Ramos is.

The club wait around at the motel and Santo Padre becomes impatient, Diaz assures them that his guys are looking for Ramos.

Creeper hangs around outside but becomes concerned when a lot of vans show up at the motel, he goes to retrieve a gun from the van but he is pistol whipped by an Oakland Mayan as Stockton Mayans pile out of the vans and they begin to beat him on the floor.

The cops soon arrive as a gunshot rings out, Steve has shot and killed Gaeta, a Stockton Mayan. Creeper refuses to leave Pavia, the Tucson Vice Presidente behind and runs off to help him as the rest of the club flee.

Creeper and EZ make plans to get some floodlights from outside the garage. Creeper bravely heads outside as EZ rains moltov cocktails from the roof, he is able to get the first set of lights but is spotted on his way back to the shed by an attacker. Creeper successfully hides from the Mayan and puts him down when he gets the chance, giving away his location, he is able to get the gas canisters back inside but returns outside to try and stop the truck being moved, he is shot in the shoulder whilst he moves up and is able to get in to the truck and rams it back in to the gate securing it before he tries to flee back inside the clubhouse, whilst he limps back he is shot in the neck and the leg before being dragged inside by Bishop and Angel, just as the attackers breach.

Creeper begs for his wounds to be cauterised or he will bleed out to which Cielo, a hangaround who has proven to be a valuable asset to the club during the assault assists Creeper in doing.

The club are later able to power the floodlights salvaged by Creeper and flick them on at the windows as the attackers draw closer, they then begin shooting at the dazzled Mayans killing numerous. Gilly and Coco have also just surprisingly returned and join the fight.

Tensions continue to mount as Bishop threatens to kill Taza who appears to be welcoming death before turning on Coco and Gilly, demanding to know where they were. Canche is eventually heard outside, taunting the club.

EZ tries to reason with Bishop but he simply tells him "The plan is fuck you". The club look on as EZ announces that Canche only wants him, he steps outside the clubhouse and demands Canche let everyone else go.

EZ stands alone, outside facing the mob before Angel joins him, and then the rest of the club pile out to stand side by side with the brave EZ, the injured Hank and Creeper are assisted in standing in solidarity with their brothers. The club are put on their knees as Canche monologues, explaining that his son may go blind as a result of the explosion and executes a Tucson Mayan, Berto who was present in the clubhouse during the whole fight. EZ asks if the club has heard anything about the Galindo family and Hank says he presumes they are dead as the Lobos New Generation Cartel (LNG) has been stepping on Galindo turf since Miguel went missing. Angel pipes up and says he hated the cartel, especially Nestor Oceteva, Miguel's head of security. The club crack up but an annoyed Alvarez quickly silences them. Alvarez then says that the Yuma pipeline and partnership with the LNG is the future of the club. Taza speaks up and says that Santo Padre haven't had any action in months and feel like they are being left out. An argument quickly arises but Alvarez throws everyone out of Templo before any physical fights can break out.

Bishop then sits with Hank, EZ, Angel and Creeper, he rants about his hatred for the other charters and wants to ensure his brothers are with him, they all agree to an extent but Hank is quite hesitant. Creeper then approaches Coco and tells him he is going to an NA meeting and asks if he wants to join, Coco dismisses him telling Creeper that he is fine.

Creeper attends his NA meeting and speaks to the group, he speaks rather cryptically and seems to get emotional. He later leaves and Kody, another woman from the group comes outside to speak to him, she says she understood what he said inside and thanks him for sharing.

Creeper hears a bike pull up and rushes outside with Hank to defend, EZ is already outside, the man turns out to be Manny. Manny says he is there to kill some Sons and came as soon as he heard. The trio are confused as they have had no confirmation it is the Sons but Manny assures them that Oakland has confirmed it.

The club return to Templo after confirmation that it was the Sons who attacked Oakland. Alvarez informs them that they will react but not right now as the club is still too divided. He wants to reach out to SAMCRO first. Creeper speaks up and says that he doesn't want to wait and wants to fight now, Gilly agrees. EZ bravely squares up to Alvarez and tells him they aren't waiting and will act now. He proposes a plan that the club will kill Les Packer, President of SAMDINO who is currently in hospital undergoing chemotherapy and is unlikely to survive much longer. They take out Packer and they take out their leadership. Taza remarks that it is a suicide mission and EZ agrees saying that is why he will do it along with Angel and Gilly. Hank pipes up and says that Gilly shouldn't go, he needs to stay and defend Santo Padre. Manny says he will take his place and the club is in agreement. Alvarez reminds EZ how dangerous this plan is but agrees nonetheless.

"Dialogue with the Mirror"[]

Bishop, Hank and Creeper sit in the bar and Bishop continues to drink non-stop and blame EZ for all troubles within the charter. Hank and Creeper try to convince Bishop that he needs to unite with EZ to try and get the club back together. Alvarez arrives and Hank informs the trio that Manny, EZ and Angel are now at UC Davis to assassinate Packer. Alvarez suggests that Creeper and Hank get some sleep to prepare for the outcome of EZ's play. Creeper and Hank leave.

Creeper lies in bed with Kody from his NA meetings who he has been sleeping with. Creeper admits to her that he is worried about what his club is doing today. She then asks if all of his brothers have as many gunshot wounds as he does, Creeper goes on to explain that he was shot by some Samoans a few years ago but despite this, his brother's didn't retaliate against them and they are still out there to this day. Creeper seems very sad as he explains this, almost like he isn't appreciated by his club.

"The Righteous Wrath of an Honorable Man"[]

The club attends Templo with Yuma, Stockton and Oakland. Alvarez announces that the war ends today and they will do it by wiping out all of SAMDINO.

The clubs ride to San Bernardino territory and begin to cause chaos.

They reunite after murdering a few Sons and at some point are able to capture a SAMDINO prospect, they hold him at gunpoint whilst numerous Mayans pile in to the back of his van in order to gain access inside the SAMDINO clubhouse. They are able to drive in and the Prospect immediately tries to call for help but is quickly silenced with a shotgun blast to the head by Creeper, the Mayans dive out of the van and a lengthy gunfight ensues, they kill numerous SAMDINO members outside before EZ, Angel and Canche breach the clubhouse and bar where the inhabitants are unaware of the chaos unfolding outside.

The club return to Santo Padre, successful in killing the majority of SAMDINO. Canche unfortunately lost his life in the raid, supposedly murdered by a Son. Alvarez and Diaz arrive and they toast to the life of Canche. Creeper later introduces Kody, his girlfriend to Bishop, Hank and Dondo. The pair leave and Creeper tells Kody how glad he is that his brothers like her, as they mean the world to him.

"The Calling of Saint Matthew"[]

The club meet and Alvarez reveals he and EZ met with Miguel Galindo and El Banquero’s sister, Soledad about reopening the drug pipeline. The club are shocked to learn that Miguel is still alive. EZ believes this deal could put Santo Padre back on top and will make them untouchable. The club likes that idea but Alvarez announces he’s going to say no to which there is much disagreement with. Alvarez believes the deal is poison and they don’t need it. Gilly points out this decision will leave them vulnerable, but Alvarez is determined to end the bloodshed. Bishop disagrees and calls for the death of all Sons. EZ agrees with Bishop and doesn’t think now is the time to change course. Alvazrez is certain they need to step back, but Gilly and Hank throw their support behind EZ. Alvzrez doesn’t care. It’s his decision and the matter is now closed.

Taza then speaks up, he announces that he doesn't like the direction the club is heading in and he has decided he would like to go Nomad. Bishop is immediately outraged, telling Taza he can't run from all the things he has done and EZ too pipes up to voice his distaste at Taza's actions. Nevertheless Taza insists and Alvarez ultimately allows the transfer.

Creeper, Angel and Gilly are the only three to say goodbye to Taza before he rides away.

Creeper returns home and eats with Kody. She’s impressed with his culinary skills and he describes how they improvised meals in prison. He also reveals that as a child he used to feed his brother and sister while his addict mom was gone. Kody wonders if he worries about going back to prison as she glances around her room. Creeper starts to talk about drugs and she gestures for him to be quiet. She grabs him and enters the bathroom, immediately turning on the water. Creeper is understandably confused as Kody begins to whisper in his ear.

"When the Breakdown Hit at Midnight"[]

The club attend the funeral for Coco along with other Mayans members. The club individually pay their respects. Letty goes to speak and curses the club, blaming them for the death of Coco and says she will never forgive them.

The club later learn that Yuma, Oakland and Stockton left after Coco's funeral to meet in secret without Santo Padre and Sahuarita. Bishop once again states "Fuck 'em".

Kody meets with Creeper to offer him a deal. She states that the feds know about the numerous killings that the Mayans have done, she reels off a long list. She tells him the only way he will survive is if he turns on the club and gives them up. Kody also reveals to Creeper that there is a rat in Santo Padre. Creeper asks Kody she chose him of all the Santo Padre members. Kody admits to Creeper that he was perfect as he was isolated, vulnerable and the "softest target".

At Templo later, the Santo Padre Mayans declare they still want revenge, but Alvarez wants peace, saying there's now a ceasefire with the Sons of Anarchy. They are also horrified to learn that multiple Yuma Mayans, including Manny have been burned alive by SAMDINO, Alvarez defends the attack saying it was unsanctioned by some rogue Sons and peace is still on the table. EZ refuses to accept anything less than surrender and soon brings up the kill switch, which allows a charter to remove a Presidente via unanimous vote. Although Angel seemingly hesitates, the club votes to remove Alvarez, choosing war over peace. Alvarez angrily pounds his fist on the table, reminding all present that this is his club and he has made many sacrifices for them. He exits, stating that he will be happy he's not around to see the club burn.

EZ steps up to Presidente in Alvarez's place, making Bishop his Vice Presidente once more, citing his experience and leadership ability. EZ places himself at the head of the table and gives a rousing speech to his brothers. His first order business is that they'll be working with Galindo and the LNG to move more heroin than ever before. With the money from that operation, they'll soon control everything within California. Santo Padre, invigorated with this new development in leadership begin to pound their fists on the table in support of their new Presidente.

Creeper heads to the police station, he knows what he must do to keep his brothers safe. He awaits in the interrogation room for Kody to arrive, stating he will not speak unless she is present. She enters and stands at the back as Creeper begins to speak. She listens as Creeper answer the basic questions before he quickly changes the pace and admits to all of the murders that Kody mentioned earlier. Every time he insists that he acted alone and the club has no knowledge and nothing to do with it. Kody begins to cry and murmur from the back of the room for Creeper to stop admitting to these crimes, but he ignores her and continues.

"Do You Hear the Rain"[]

Later that night, Creeper makes a phone call to Hank, he finally drops the bomb that he knows there is an informant inside of the club.

"I Want Nothing but Death"[]

Creeper meets with Kody, she explains that she has had her badge stripped and only got in on a favour. She asks Creeper is he has ever heard of Kevin Jimenez, to which Creeper denies. She goes on to explain that he was the handler of the rat in the club and has since been killed. The million dollar question is asked finally by Creeper, who is the rat in Santo Padre? Kody hesitates for a few seconds before saying that it is EZ Reyes. Creeper laughs at her, quickly stating that it isn't EZ. Kody carries on explaining that she has looked through countless documents and even met with Jimenez' widow, where she learned that Jimenez and EZ are cousins, it's all on a tape recording made by Jimenez. Creeper becomes emotional, stating that Kody is just trying to emotionally torture him but Kody insists she is telling the truth, explaining that he needs to think about EZ's situation, he killed a cop, and was out of prison in five years. Creeper shouts for the CO to come and take him back to his cell as he is done with the meeting. As Creeper is marched away Kody yells after him that she has done everything he asked her to do. Creeper tells the guard that he needs to speak to Smokey.

Creeper meets with Smokey, Creeper confidently tells him that he has receives his message, but unfortunately it missed. Smokey assures Creeper that if he wasn't supposed to be standing here, he wouldn't be. Creeper cuts to business, he asks Smokey who the rat in his club is. Smokey tells Creeper about his cousin, Jay-Jay who was a shotcaller in Stockton State Prison. He continues his story, explaining that Jay-Jay became friends with a young man who was in for killing a cop, and one night the man was rolled up and was out of the prison. Smokey continues, saying that once Jay-Jay got out, he reconnected with the man, and was planning to press him for some cash to support his family as he knew all his secrets and knew he was a rat. The man was a high ranking member of the club, it was EZ Reyes. Smokey finishes his story by stating that after Jay-Jay made this plan, he never heard from his cousin again. Creeper is speechless, realising that Kody was right and EZ has been the rat this whole time, his Presidente, the man who he trusts with his life and is now serving time for.

Smokey offers Creeper a chance to play for his life, he extends the basketball to him, telling him he's got one shot, if he makes it, he will lift the hit on Creeper's head. They are interrupted by a CO, telling Creeper that he has a visitor. Creeper slowly backs away and makes his way to visitation, expecting it to be Hank, he needs to tell him everything about EZ and save the club. Creeper glances through the see of visitors but is unable to see Hank, his heart skips a beat as he sees that EZ has come to visit him.

The pair sit as EZ apologises for not coming out recently, telling Creeper he knows how it feels to have nobody come to visit him in prison. He says it was hard for Angel and his father to come and see him so he really appreciated it. Creeper remains silent as EZ says that the club is doing great and will be back on top soon. Creeper finally speaks as he repeats EZ's words back to him that he said to the club when they made him Presidente: "If you bleed, I'll bleed beside you, If you tire, I will carry you". Creeper becomes enraged as he tells EZ that he knows he is the rat. The two stare each other in the eye as EZ tells Creeper he is going to take the club to new heights and if he stops now then all the death and sacrifice will be for nothing. Creeper says that his life is over, and he did it for the club, he tells EZ he is going to get word to Hank and stop EZ.

EZ apologises to Creeper, as he reaches across the table and pulls him to the floor, EZ wraps his legs around Creeper's as he begins to flail and cry out for help, making it look like Creeper is attacking him. The guards rush over and pull Creeper off and begin to violently beat him with their batons. Creeper tries to plead innocence but it gets him nowhere.

That night, Creeper sits in his solitary confinement cell, his thoughts race as his world unravels before his eyes.

“To Fear of Death, I Eat the Stars[]
