Kenny Winston is the son of Opie and Donna Winston on the FX original series Sons of Anarchy. Played by American actor John Abendroth in the series' first and second seasons, and American actor Mason Charles in the series' fourth season, Kenny makes his debut in the series' premiere episode, "Pilot", in the series' first season. Playing a recurring role through the series' first and second seasons, Kenny was last seen on the episode "Out" in the series' fourth season.

Biography[]

Background[]

In Season 1, Opie's son is introduced as and called, Harry. Throughout the episodes, he is called that, until Season 2, (first called Kenny in Season 1, Episode 13 ("The Revelator")) when his name is switched to Kenny. It could be that his middle name is Kenneth and he goes by that name afterwards.

Kenny Winston is introduced in "Pilot" along with his sister, Ellie, as the son of Opie and Donna Winston. His mother is killed by mistake by Tig in "The Sleep of Babies", who was under Clay's orders to kill Opie.

Season 2[]

In Season 2, his grandmother, Mary Winston, becomes caretaker of Kenny and his sister Ellie, as Opie became emotionally distant after Donna's murder. However, this proves too much for his grandmother, and they are dropped off with their father. Lyla cares for Kenny and Ellie when she meets Opie. In the season finale, Ellie is assumed to be sheltered in the SAMCRO clubhouse with other relatives of the club members.

Season 4[]

"Out"[]

Kenny is seen in "Out" at Opie and Lyla's wedding, which was also used as a cover to retaliate against the Russians. However, his father and step-mother separate toward the end of the season when Opie finds birth control that Lyla had been hiding from him.

Piney, his paternal grandfather, was killed by Clay with his own shotgun, after Clay attempts to persuade Piney to give him Maureen Ashny's letters. Clay framed the Lobo Sonora cartel with Piney's murder, but Opie finds out that it was in fact Clay who killed him. Opie becomes enraged that Clay has taken his wife and Kenny's mother, Donna, and his father away from him, and he shoots Clay two times.

Season 5[]

Kenny is once again left in the care of Lyla when his father asks for him and his sister to be taken care of for a few weeks in his absence. Opie is then arrested at the end of "Authority Vested", and in "Laying Pipe", he is beaten to death with a iron pipe.
