Izzy Alvarez is the wife of Marcus Alvarez on Mayans MC, a spinoff of the FX original series Sons of Anarchy. Played by Panamanian actress Patricia de León. Izzy makes her debut appearance in the season three premiere, "Pap Struggles with the Death Angel".

Biography[]

Izzy is the second wife of Mayans Motorcycle Club founder, Marcus Alvarez. A level headed other half to the sometimes fiery Alvarez. Alvarez credits Izzy with helping to make him a better man, claiming he was "something else", before he met her.

Izzy taught Alvarez to put his family first and does her best to keep him on the straight and narrow. Despite not knowing about his cartel involvement, Izzy understands Alvarez doesn't live a standard life and does her best accommodate for his unique circumstances.

Izzy is an understanding wife, caring step-mother and a breath of fresh air for the troubled Alvarez.

Season 3[]

"Pap Struggles with the Death Angel"[]

Izzy can be seen welcoming Santi, Paco's son in to their house whilst Paco heads out on business. Paco is very grateful to Alvarez and Izzy but Izzy brushes it off.

"The House of Death Floats By"[]

Alvarez walks around his home and checks on Paco's son, him Izzy have all but adopted him after the death of Paco, the truth still not being revealed to his son. Alvarez says he doesn't know if it will be a good day or a bad day when he stops asking. Izzy enquires why he seems so upset and Alvarez explains he's been thinking about his own son, Esai Alvarez a lot recently. Esai was killed on Alvarez's orders by another outlaw motorcycle club, SAMCRO many years ago to form an alliance between the two clubs. Alvarez sadly explains that due to his own actions, his son will never get to meet his half sister, Tessa, or meet his step mother Izzy. Before he met Izzy, he was a different person and put everything in front of his own blood, especially the club. Izzy gets emotional as Alvarez explains that work is bringing all these thoughts back to him as he feels he is about to do the same again. Izzy tells Alvarez he simply shouldn't let it happen but he replies telling her it isn't that simple. Izzy doesn't understand why Alvarez finds it so hard to separate his club life and his personal life.

Season 4[]

"A Crow Flew By"[]

Izzy's birthday is coming up and she is organising a birthday dinner. She tells Alvarez that she wants to invite Obispo "Bishop" Losa around. Alvarez is annoyed as the pair aren't on the best terms currently.

"Dialogue with the Mirror"[]

Izzy's birthday night rolls around. Bishop arrives late, he sits at their table but declines a drink from Izzy as he has bought his own; which he begins to drink. Bishop is continuously hostile during the dinner when asked any questions. He mentions that he has recently been "demoted at work" to which Alvarez hisses at him from across the table to not discuss this in his home. Izzy's friend, Maggie arrives. Bishop continues to listen to Maggie's travel stories and then tells the table that he has "Been to Iraq a couple of times, Al-Qaeda, so warm and welcoming" and that Iraq was "amazing" as he chugs down more of Izzy's wine. The conversation then switches to grandchildren and Maggie tells Bishop that one day he will get to experience the joys of being a grandparent. The room goes silent and the tension is obvious to everyone in the room except Maggie, Bishop stands and announces that he is going to leave.

Season 5[]

"Lord Help My Poor Soul"[]

A now pregnant Izzy hears yelling and goes to investigate. She finds Alvarez yelling at Santi, who is wearing Alvarez's Mayans kutte. Alvarez protests that Santi should know better than to touch his motorcycle gear, but Izzy comforts him and walks him away from his adoptive father.

"I Want Nothing but Death"[]

Alvarez and his family are attending Maggie's family birthday party. Alvarez sees Bishop approaching and immediately gathers his family and leaves, refusing to listen to the protests of his daughter. He walks straight past Bishop, ignoring him. Izzy apologises to Bishop, stating that Alvarez isn't ready, before leaving also.

They return home and Izzy tells Alvarez that she he has been given enough time to grieve for his "old life" clearly referencing the club. She continues saying that she refuses to live with him like this anymore, he needs to sort himself out or she is gone.

"Slow to Bleed Fair Son"[]

Izzy gives birth to her son, she spends the day at the hospital recovering with her family by her side. At one point, Bishop arrives and the pair smile at each other, he opts to give the couple some privacy and departs, although Izzy is happy to see that Alvarez and Bishop have seemingly reconciled from their previous disagreements.

Trivia[]

  • Izzy Alvarez' character is credited as 'Diana Alvarez'. Diana was the first wife of Marcus Alvarez from Sons of Anarchy. This is likely a producer oversight as everything we see and hear in Mayans MC indicates that Izzy and Diana are two different people.
