Hobart was a mercenary on Mayans MC, a spinoff of the FX original series Sons of Anarchy. Portrayed by American veteran and actor Mikal Vega, Hobart makes his debut appearance in the season two episode, "Xbalanque" and plays a recurring antagonistic role throughout the same season, until he meets his demise in "Muluc".
Personality[]
Hobart was a cruel man, willing to use violence and murder to achieve his objectives or those of his employers. He had no qualms about the prospect of torturing a young girl affiliated with his enemies as in his eyes, she was a "soldier", and not a kid.
He was also shown to have absolutely null care for his enemies as evidenced by placing Luisa Espina in a dog jail despite the obvious unsuitability for humans, and ignoring the more critical fact she was pregnant, claiming "I didn't have a cell". He did show a mild moral restraining claiming he would have killed Adelita if not for her child (although it is safe to assume he was pressured by Lincoln Potter to not kill her). His repeated use of slangs for her and eventually Marcus Alvarez, suggest he holds some racist principles.
For all his cruelty he was deeply loyal to his men and moved with relentless thirst for revenge when he finds them murdered.
Season 2[]
"Xbalanque"[]
Hobart's Crew takes part in a joint operation between the Mayans Motorcycle Club, Santo Padre, and the Galindo Cartel to takedown a safehouse believed to contain Mexican rebel organisation, Los Olvidados members.
They breach the house and are able to kill all of the occupants and gather some intel believed to be associated with Los Olvidados.
Whilst spotting on the hillside, Delgado discovers a young girl who he assumes is part of Los Olvidados, he radios to Hobart and is told to bring her to the house. Jonas goes up to meet with him and the pair return with the girl. Delgado and Jonas are told to interrogate her and is reminded by Hobart that she isn't a child, but a soldier.
Hobart later learns that Jones, Delgado and Biggs were killed and the girl had escaped. He brings this to Lincoln Potter who theorises that the girl is the reason his men were killed. Hobart appears to be visibly sad at the death of his men, he tells Potter that he wants Adelita.
"Xaman-Ek"[]
Hobart sends Norton and Weston head out to the town to try and locate the girl who escaped after the Los Olvidados house raid a few days ago. They are unsuccessful and report back to Hobart, explaining that they didn't locate the girl but a local mentioned that guys in motorcycle vests also came looking for the girl. This causes Hobart to become suspicious of the club, he tells Norton and Weston to begin tracking them.
"Lahun Chan"[]
The following day, Norton tells Hobart that one of the vehicles he bugged is on the move, the vehicle is used by the cartel and the club. They are suspicious of where it is heading, Hobart tells Weston to put their plans on hold, they are back on the Los Olvidados assignment and are going to intercept the vehicle.
They head out and eventually intercept what turns out to be the cartel; who are locked in a battle with Adelita. Miguel Galindo claims that they had a tip she was out here and have just engaged in a fight with her. Marcus Alvarez soon emerges from a shop with Adelita at gunpoint. Hobart taunts Adelita before she spits in his face and begins to curses out Miguel, the mercs leave, successful in capturing Adelita.
"Xquic"[]
Potter arrives to see the captured Adelita, he called Hobart a "troglodyte" upon seeing that he has caged Adelita in a dog cage, he frees her and apologises to her. Potter briefs Hobart and Norton, explaining that they will transport Adelita tomorrow and use decoy vehicles to ensure that if they are being tracked, Adelita will not be recaptured.
The following day, Hobart briefs his men, he will travel in the first decoy car and Norton will travel in the third and final decoy car with Adelita in as well as a department of justice agent. He tells Weston to pay the two women who are acting as decoys, he does so. Before they head out he tells Adelita, "that bastard in your belly is the only reason I haven't slit your throat" before throwing a bag over her head.
He then leaves in the first decoy vehicle.
"Muluc"[]
Now more curious and angry than ever about the cartel. After the Adelita drop off went wrong, the third car was assaulted, Norton was killed but Adelita was still recaptured. Hobart suspects that the Mayans, the cartel and Los Olvidados are all intertwined somehow. Hobart's crew take it upon themselves to kidnap Alvarez. He and his crew track him down and incapacitate two cartel enforcers and then kidnap Alvarez.
Alvarez is taken to a warehouse and is beaten ruthlessly by the men. They question him on how the Adelita rescue went down and demand to know who is responsible. The relentless torture continues and Alvarez supposedly cracks, and he tells Hobart that they hired some brothers to do the hit and says he will give them phone numbers to make contact.
Hobart becomes enraged when he doesn't hear anything back from these brothers. Alvarez questions the man if Potter ordered his kidnapping or if it was all Hobart's doing. Realising Alvarez has figured out his identity, Hobart removes his mask and jams a knife straight through Alvarez's hand, sarcastically noting that it's good he doesn't ride anymore, he gives Alvarez's contact 10 minutes or he will cut his hands off.
Hearing a commotion outside, the mercs arm up before a truck drives through the side of the warehouse and the cartel and club breach and begin firing. Hobart is immediately shot in the leg as his crew fall beside him. A severely injured Alvarez limps to him and utters some mocking words before beating his face in with a pipe wrench.
