Biography[]
Background[]
As a young woman, Emily grew up with her mother, Diana, and her sister, Erin Thomas. Erin and Emily shared little in common growing up, Emily notes that Erin would regularly be gone days at a time, unable to hold down a job or a boyfriend. The one thing they had in common was their poor relationship with Diana.
Whilst in high school, Emily dated Ezekiel "EZ" Reyes, the golden boy of Santo Padre who had big dreams of becoming a doctor. He came from a proud, but damaged family. Emily and EZ began to build their life together and Emily was soon pregnant with their child.
Everything changed however when EZ was sent to prison for accidentally murdering a police officer. EZ had been chasing whom he believes to be the killer of his mother, Marisol Reyes. Heartbroken by EZ's reckless actions and knowing his life was over, Emily aborted their baby and prepared herself to never see EZ again.
Putting her simple life behind her, Emily traded it all in when she married Miguel Galindo, who on the surface, appeared to be a well to do business man in Santo Padre. This is however a front, Miguel was the leader of the Galindo Cartel, of which he inherited from his father. Emily now lives a luxurious life on the hills of Santo Padre in a sprawling mansion. Emily and Miguel have a son, named Cristobal, after Miguel's deceased brother.
Emily's life was flipped upside down after she learns that EZ is out of prison, and is now a member of the Mayans Motorcycle Club, Santo Padre, of which his brother, Angel Reyes, is also a member. Emily willingly becomes more drawn in to Miguel's other, and far more dangerous life. Actively taking part in it which in tow, brings her and EZ back together, as the cartel and the club do business together. Emily also learns that EZ is still determined to find out the truth about what happened to his mother, and unfortunately for Emily, the truth may be closer to home than she wants to believe.
Season 1[]
"Perro/Oc"[]
Eight years after her relationship with Ezekiel "EZ" Reyes ended, Emily is revealed to be married to Galindo Cartel senior leader and Mayan M.C. associate Miguel Galindo, with whom she has an infant son. EZ is not yet aware of this after he sees her briefly. Flashbacks revealed their love while attending Stanford University and that EZ ended their three year relationship during a prison visit due to his assumption that he was about to serve a 20 year prison sentence. Though she doesn't speak of it, she hinted during the prison visit that she was pregnant after showing him what appears to be an ultrasound of their unborn child.
Emily has dinner with her family. Miguel Galindo, leader of the Galindo Cartel is her husband and together they have a young son named Cristobal. Emily notices that Miguel has been off, he says it is just some problems in "the other world" alluding to his cartel life. The pair separate and Emily gets in a car with their son as Miguel leaves in another car. She doesn't notice that her vehicle is being followed.

Miguel attempts to comfort Emily after learning of the horrifying news that his son has been kidnapped by Los Olvidados. Miguel assures Emily that he will find Cristobal, he will do everything in his power and use all his contacts. Emily is upset as Miguel's worlds have now crossed and it has had tragic consequences after Miguel assured her the two worlds wouldn't collide. Emily wants to know answers from now on, Miguel agrees.
Miguel returns home and is immediately confronted by Emily, she states that she has seen the propaganda video posted by Los Olvidados. She is terrified that if Miguel retaliates, Los Olvidados will hurt Cristobal. Devante Cano, Miguel's advisor enters with news from Nestor, and he ushers Emily out of the room.
Emily sees Miguel exit the room and attempts to speak to him but he ignores her and exits the house. Dita Galindo, Miguel's mother approaches Emily and tells her to leave Miguel, he is exhausted from his efforts in trying to find Cristobal.
Emily later goes to Felipe Reyes' butcher shop. Felipe is the father of EZ. Emily and EZ haven't seen each other in many years, since EZ's time in prison. Emily wants information about her son's kidnapping, she goes on to explain that Miguel won't tell her anything, EZ is a member of the Mayans and can pass information to her that Miguel doesn't want her to hear. Emily is worried about Miguel retaliating and EZ confirms it already has, Miguel has had a father and son killed and their bodies dumped in the town centre. Emily begins to sob and quickly leaves as EZ says he won't let anything happen to Cristobal.

Dita says that Miguel will not allow it but Emily pulls on her heart strings and the pair head out to the square. Once there, Emily attempts to interrogate Dita further, Dita reveals that the retaliation was Devante's call but Emily still blames Miguel. Miguel, Devante and Nestor are having a strategic meeting. Emily arrives and wishes to have a say. She explains the strategy that Los Olvidados are using to grow their influence so quickly. Devante questions how any of this information is useful and Emily retorts that this is precisely the reason why the cartel are losing ground. She wants to use the Santa Madre parade later to try and make the Los Olvidados look like the real enemy.
They take a risk on Emily's idea and make plans to vandalise the church in the name of Los Olvidados. Devante thanks Emily for her great idea.
Before heading to the Santa Madre parade; Dita offers some advice to Emily in terms of how she should tread carefully now this is her life. Emily insists she isn't too involved with the cartel and just wants her son back but Dita isn't so sure.
They arrive at the parade, whilst the church is vacant, Nestor and his team vandalise it with Los Olvidados propaganda, they also murder the nun who was seen helping Adelita in the video and leave her inside the church, making it look like Los Olvidados again. Emily is horrified to see the dead nun as none of this was part of her plan, as the crowd realise what has happened Emily is caught in a stampede on the way out of the church.

Miguel comes to visit Emily in the hospital, she is horrified about what Miguel had done to the nun and says nothing to him before being wheeled away again.
Emily receives a surprise visit from EZ, who has heard of the stampede at the parade and wants to see her. Emily explains it was mostly her fault as she ran in to the crowd. EZ questions why the Los Olvidados would kill a nun and Emily angrily reminds him that they kidnapped Cristobal and they are dangerous. She lies and explains to EZ that Miguel has given a lot of money to the church, Los Olvidados must have figured that it would hurt him greatly and tarnish his name. Just before EZ leaves, Emily asks him if he's heard anymore about Cristobal, EZ says no.
Devante comes to see Emily before she is discharges, he attempts to reassure her that everything he does is for the family, he tells her again her play with the rebels was very smart. She must also learn that she can't pick and choose in this life, it's all in or nothing. Emily tells Devante that since Cristobal's kidnapping; Miguel has been a different man, more ruthless and calculating. Devante tells Emily that she should cease keeping all secrets from Miguel, indicating EZ's visit earlier and that Emily is more important than she realises.
After being released from hospital, Emily goes to EZ's trailer and waits for him to return home. EZ arrives and Emily apologises for being here; knowing it puts EZ in danger. Emily admits to EZ that when he went inside and she had their child aborted, she did it out of spite, to hurt EZ for hurting her. She now feels that Cristobal being taken is some sort of revenge for what she did. EZ comforts a severely distressed Emily and Angel Reyes soon arrives, EZ goes to chase after her but Angel restrains him.
Emily returns home and is immediately interrogated by Miguel, he tells her he knows EZ came to the hospital and thinks she was with him again this evening. Dita arrives and says that Miguel has a phone call from someone called "Adelita". Devante quickly dials in and the woman on the other end speaks. She explains that she represents Los Olvidados and has the demands to return Cristobal. Adelita demands 7 million pesos in cryptocurrency and that Miguel crosses the border to Mexico alone and then she will tell him where his son is. After the call ends, Miguel tells Emily to prepare the money and for Nestor to hit the location they have for the camp and to kill everyone.
Miguel, Emily, Devante and Dita travel to the border as Miguel prepares to cross to retrieve Cristobal. Miguel appears again soon, clutching Cristobal and they are all relieved to see him. She is bought to a room and the detectives question her, she refuses to answer and asks for a lawyer and to see Cristobal. She says that they know she hasn't done anything wrong and nor has Miguel; they have no evidence. The detectives ask her about her relationship with EZ and if she had an abortion of their child. Emily becomes enraged as another man enters the room; chastising the other detectives for their treatment of her, he sends them away. The man shockingly explains to Emily that he wants the cartel to work with the government.
Potter returns to Emily later after speaking to Miguel. Emily mocks Potter, realising he isn't playing in to his hands. Potter asks again about EZ but Emily shrugs it off as she was just in love. Emily holds strong and says she will never turn on Miguel. Miguel finally plays his trump card, he shows pictures of Cristobal in less than ideal conditions. Potter smugly explains that the case doesn't even need to go to court, him filing it will be enough to have Cristobal taken away.
Emily is given time to read through the evidence. She is horrified to see that EZ has written testimonies for it; describing the club's criminal deeds, he is working for the feds too. Emily is then told she can see her lawyer.
Miguel and Emily are later freed and allowed to leave with Cristobal. Emily tells Miguel that all of their intel was fake but it doesn't matter now that Miguel has signed the deal, the government own the cartel. She doesn't reveal to Miguel the truth about EZ, knowing it would mean death for him. Miguel explains to Emily that they don't have everyone; cryptically explaining devil soldiers but doesn't reveal anymore.

Devante is horrified when Miguel explains that he is going to work with Los Olvidados to keep the government at bay; they will give them just enough information to make them feel like they're in control but the majority of their work will still be secret. Devante tries to convince Miguel that allying himself with Los Olvidados is a mistake and that allying with Potter is the safest option for them.
The club and cartel head out to the casino to meet with Miguel for the first time since he was released from custody. They sit down and he begins explaining that he has signed a deal, similar to one that his father signed 10 years ago. He goes on to explain that while he was detained at the border he was approached by someone else and offered a deal, that person was Adelita, better known as Luisa. The club are astounded at what they are seeing and hearing. Luisa then addresses everyone in attendance and her and Miguel confirm they are no longer enemies but are in fact partners.

Emily heads inside and speaks to Ileana, who appears to be an old friend, they exchange pleasantries before Ileana explains to Emily that there have already been six other bids placed for the project.
Furious, Emily storms in to Antonia Peña, the Santo Padre mayor's office. She demands to know why she wasn't told about the additional bids and Peña explains that the city is running on no money and the rules were changed to allow the Galindo's to make a bid, allowing even more to bid also. Emily lightly threatens Peña as she explains that Miguel should be the only person she is answering to.
Emily calls Miguel to tell him of the situation and tells him to come to city hall immediately. The pair meet and Emily discloses that she doesn't know who the other bidders are. Miguel stoically explains he will find out and handle it. Emily becomes angry and tells him that he can't bring the cartel world in to their business life, Miguel retorts that he sees no reason why he can't, as all big companies are corrupt anyway. Emily reminds him that he will ruin his legacy if he is caught and Miguel has a son to think of. Emily ends by saying that she will speak to Ileana.
Nestor arrives in a panic and asks Miguel if he has heard from Dita, Miguel is confused and Nestor can't look him in the eye as he admits he doesn't know where she has gone.

The two share a sweet moment as Ileana confesses that she has always admired Emily and will always be there for her. They arrive at Ileana's hotel and Emily asks Nestor to step out. Emily hands Ileana a cheque for $50,000 and admits that she knows that Ileana has been borrowing money from Diana, Emily's estranged mother; Ileana frantically tries to explain that it's just a loan and she lost everything in the fires. Ileana begins to suspect that Emily has ulterior motives and asks what the real cost is. Emily all but confirms she wants information about the other agra park bidders. Ileana becomes angry and Emily begins to cry and conjures up a sob story about how she is trying to fit in with Miguel's world. She retracts her earlier offer and says she doesn't want anything for the money and wants to help Ileana to make herself feel better. This seems to do the trick as Ileana gratefully accepts the money.
Emily receives a phone call from Ileana later that night. Ileana inquires that if she was to "need more help" could she provide information in exchange for it, Emily tries to act cool and effortlessly tell Ileana that it would be much appreciated, the mere thought of Ileana taking her bribes is enough to get Emily to pace anxiously. Miguel questions why they are here and Antonia explains that before Marlon took his own life, he emailed her and confessed ot have been taking bribes for insider information and giving ChinAgra, the company that Ileana had previously mentioned an unfair advantage. Emily quickly asks what this means for the project and Antonia explains that their bid will be removed and the Galindo bid will win. Antonia changes tone as she then directs her line of questioning to Miguel, suspecting foul play she asks him that what happened to Marlon never happens in Santo Padre again, Emily chimes in and gives her assurances before they depart.
Outside, Miguel is incredibly suspicious and tells Emily that the circumstances surrounding Marlon seem too unlikely and she must have had some sort of link to his demise, Emily denies and tells Miguel they should celebrate the legit business venture.
Later that night Miguel receives a call from Emily and she explains she is going to see Ileana, she is devastated over Marlon's passing and wants to be there for her. Emily heads to city hall and meets EZ inside, EZ explains that he accidentally killed Marlon after he pulled a gun on him and then ran with this suicide narrative after looking through Marlon's belongings and realising that he had a lot of reason to kill himself, huge debt, for example. Emily tears up as she blames herself for his death but EZ explains it isn't that simple and she shouldn't. Emily finishes by telling EZ that she owes him and she'll do anything for his family if he ever needs it. EZ says there is and produces an envelope, explaining it's a family thing.

Emily begins to dig through family archives to help EZ. The envelope he had given her was a list of finances from many years ago and EZ wants to find out where they came from. She seems to find something that EZ is looking for.
EZ goes to a nail salon to secretly meet with Emily. He tells her the reason he asked her to look in to the accounts and Emily is horrified to learn that her family probably had something to do with Marisol Reyes' death. Emily has clearly found something but she refuses to tell EZ anything after he all but accuses Miguel of being responsible for the hit. Emily becomes enraged when EZ mentions their old life and slaps him across the face. She leaves and tells EZ she will find more proof that his assumptions are wrong about Miguel.
Emily arrives home and speaks to Miguel, they discuss the Santo Padre paper announcing Galindo Enterprises as the winner of the AgraPark project and Miguel states he is glad Marlon isn't mentioned.
Emily returns to the archives and finds more information which seems to confirm that EZ was correct all along. She then heads out to collect Dita from her psychologist appointment. She presents her with the records she found in storage and asks about Dita's past. She questions Dita as to why she chose to live outside of Jose Galindo's circle, even when he was working for the government. Dita cuts her off and asks what she has found, Dita simply tells Emily that the answers she seeks about old accounts are dead and buried. Dita gets out of the car and heads inside. Emily tells Nestor that she wants to go back in to town as she had some more errands. As they drive, Emily tells Nestor she wants to go to Felipe's shop.
They arrive at the shop and it is closed, Emily assures Nestor that he will open for her and must get Miguel steak for dinner. Felipe opens the door and Emily explains she just wants steaks, he lets her in. Emily explains to Felipe that she was looking at the family archives today and found some old accounting ledgers. Felipe looks over the records and demands answers as Emily desperately questions him over him and Dita's past connection. Emily drops the bombshell on Felipe that EZ has discovered a hitman was supposed to kill both him and Marisol and the payments came from Galindo accounts; signed off by Dita. Felipe asks if anyone else knows and Emily says she has kept it a secret so far, not even telling EZ. Felipe tells Emily to do nothing for now and give him a few days and they will get everyone together and discuss further. Emily glances outside and sees that Miguel has just pulled up, she quickly heads outside and Miguel questions her. Felipe heads outside also, to hand Emily the steaks. Miguel sarcastically remarks to Felipe that all the women in his life can't stay away from him, Felipe calmly responds that he is the only butcher in town. He apologises to Emily again and says they don't want anymore lies between each other, Emily agrees. He asks about Emily's late night visit to Felipe but Emily once again brushes it off as just getting dinner. He further presses on the death of Marlon and Emily becomes enraged and leaves.
Dita heads outside to speak to Emily and confesses to her that she wanted to die in that fire all those months ago. Emily sadly says that she knows and asks if Devante's death is the reason why, Dita says that it is partly but mostly because she felt like she has no purpose anymore. Dita says she blames herself for the falling out between Emily and Miguel, they need to repair it before it's too late.
Dita returns to Emily and says she has booked a spa evening for them, Emily attempts to say she doesn't have time but Dita won't hear it, she asks Nestor to bring them. Felipe explains to Emily that it's time to talk as they drive away.
Felipe arrives home with Emily and EZ and Angel are already waiting. Emily begins to theorise and tells them that Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club member, Happy Lowman, was indeed hired by the Galindo cartel but it was done under the radar and the funds came from the account of Dita. This sparks the question of why did the cartel wants Felipe and Marisol dead, which Felipe answers. He had an affair with Dita but ended it soon afterwards; Dita didn't want to let him go and Felipe was scared of retaliation so he moved away and changed his name with Marisol. Angel wonders why twenty years later their mother was killed, which EZ answers with the only person who still had a connection and knew where they had now moved to was Miguel, who would have been told everything by his late father. Emily is furious at this accusation and says Miguel would never be involved in murder. She asks EZ what he is going to do now and his silence is answer enough.
EZ drives Emily home while she quizzes him on what happens now, EZ receives a text from Potter and admits everything to Emily about Felipe's deportation. Emily tells EZ that she has intel on Potter which will stop him for continuously chasing his family but he will only get it on the condition that EZ leaves Emily's family be. She is worried for Miguel as they now all believe that he is the man responsible for ordering the hit on Felipe and Marisol. EZ drops Emily back at the spa where Dita is waiting.

The border between the US and Mexico has been shut down and imports are difficult, resulting in no work being done. Emily calmly tells Antonia that it isn't anybody's fault. Antonia leaves after telling Emily she knows how she really won the bid and there is blood on her hands.
