Taza is mainly of Apache and Mexican ancestry, with some Comanche and Sephardic Jewish ancestry. As a young man in Mexico, Taza was part of the Vatos Malditos Motorcycle Club where he once had at romantic relationship with El Palo's younger brother, David. However, he eventually left the group due to his disgust in their involvement in human trafficking after El Palo began calling the shots.
However, it is also possible that the real reason why he left the club is that El Palo found out that he is homosexual, which most likely would have cost his life if he stayed. Therefore, Taza travelled up north of the border to join the Mayans Motorcycle Club. He helped Bishop to establish the Santo Padre charter and is a long-time friend of Marcus Alvarez.
Taza's life takes a shocking turn when El Palo and the Vatos Malditos suddenly reenter his life. In the midst of a violent feud interlaced with the prospect of a promising business deal between the Sons, VM and the Mayans, Taza wants to ensure that the VM and Palo are wiped out; due to Palo knowing deep secrets that could ruin Taza. Taza takes drastic action to ensure the deal never goes through and his secrets from his past can never be spilled.
Taza's conscience soon grows heavy with the guilt he is feeling from all the sins he has selfishly committed. This, combined with the new direction the Mayans seem to be heading in proves too much for him and he ultimately decides to leave the Santo Padre charter in 2022. Choosing to become a Nomad.

EZ tells Coco to buckle up as it’s going to be a rough ride once they hit the top. (The truck has to fall a foot before landing on the other ramp.) So much could go wrong – including a tire popping – but fortunately nothing does. EZ, now with the drugs successfully over the border and on the U.S. side, zooms off to make the delivery. The club then learn from EZ that Canche isn't dead and is leading the huge mob outside the gates. The club work to block the windows as bullets continue to rain in, the power to the clubhouse is then shut off. The club take stock of the weapons they have as they can't be wasting bullets. Taza has mentally checked out, he drinks despite the chaos and tells EZ that the club is finished.
Taza continues to watch on the fight from the bar, continually drinking and only piping up to tell Bishop that he should've killed him earlier.
The club finally deplete all of their ammo and Bishop admits he is out of options. Tensions continue to mount as Bishop threatens to kill Taza who appears to be welcoming death before turning on Coco and Gilly, demanding to know where they were. Canche is eventually heard outside, taunting the club.
EZ tries to reason with Bishop but he simply tells him "The plan is fuck you". The club look on as EZ announces that Canche only wants him, he steps outside the clubhouse and demands Canche let everyone else go.
EZ stands alone, outside facing the mob before Angel joins him, and then the rest of the club pile out to stand side by side with the brave EZ, the injured Hank and Creeper are assisted in standing in solidarity with their brothers. The club are put on their knees as Canche monologues, explaining that his son may go blind as a result of the explosion and executes a Tucson Mayan, Berto who was present in the clubhouse during the whole fight. He continues saying that Santo Padre needs to be put down and puts a gun to Angel's head, threatening to kill EZ's family like he did to him.
Suddenly, Alvarez arrives and demands to know what has happened. He directs Bishop and asks him what he has done.
"Hymn Among the Ruins"[]
We time jump four months in to the future after the civil war.
Santo Padre and other charters head in to Templo with Alvarez sitting at the head of the table once again.
The club are discussing the new drug plan and an argument soon breaks out over Yuma's part, they have been stepping on the heroin with fentanyl. Downer, a Yuma Mayan argues that since Canche took over the drug supplying from Santo Padre, profits have never been higher and a "few dead junkies is the price of what we do". EZ asks if the club has heard anything about the Galindo family and Hank says he presumes they are dead as the Lobos New Generation Cartel (LNG) has been stepping on Galindo turf since Miguel went missing. Angel pipes up and says he hated the cartel, especially Nestor Oceteva, Miguel's head of security. The club crack up but an annoyed Alvarez quickly silences them. Alvarez then says that the Yuma pipeline and partnership with the LNG is the future of the club. Taza speaks up and says that Santo Padre haven't had any action in months and feel like they are being left out. An argument quickly arises but Alvarez throws everyone out of Templo before any physical fights can break out.
Taza sits alone in the clubhouse with Bishop constantly staring daggers at him.
Bishop stays in the clubhouse and is later joined by Taza who tells him he will back him whatever he chooses and Alvarez doesn't have the club's best interests in mind. Bishop tells Taza that he is lucky he isn't dead for what he did and he hasn't forgotten.
Taza later does some sort of ritual, similar to what we have seen him doing the day he killed Riz, he cuts off a lock of his hair and burns a photo of the pair of them

Alvarez then also informs Santo Padre that they have a new prospect, sponsored by him and it is Nestor.
Hank and Taza drink together and Taza comments saying that he doesn't recognise the club anymore. Hank says that they are being tested, but he is unsure if they will make it.

Inside the club listen to a speech from Alvarez about reuniting the club and they pay tributes to their dead. Creeper pays tribute to Pavia, Dondo to Ramos and Hank to Steve most notably, other charters also honour their dead. Taza steps forward but a furious Bishop pushes him back, hissing "You don't get to say his name." he then steps forward himself and pays tribute to Riz.
A brawl nearly erupts between Hank and Downer, an Oakland Mayan but EZ jumps in in time to stop any punches being thrown. Tex, an Oakland Mayan pushes EZ who then punches him in return causing an all out brawl. Alvarez soon arrives and fires a round in the air. He addresses Diaz, admitting that "Maybe it's time to cut out the fucking cancer".
"When I Die, I Want Your Hands on My Eyes"[]
Santo Padre is in disarray after they learn that the Oakland clubhouse was hit last night. Canche and Alvarez arrive. Hank announces that five brothers have been killed and four are in the intensive care unit. Among the dead lies Coco, who was sent to Oakland on Alvarez's orders.
EZ and Hank exit Templo to announce to the rest of the club that there will be no retaliation yet as they don't know who is responsible. Gilly believes it was the Sons and the club are angry to learn there will be nothing done immediately.
The club return to Templo after confirmation that it was the Sons who attacked Oakland. Alvarez informs them that they will react but not right now as the club is still too divided. He wants to reach out to SAMCRO first. Creeper speaks up and says that he doesn't want to wait and wants to fight now, Gilly agrees. EZ bravely squares up to Alvarez and tells him they aren't waiting and will act now. He proposes a plan that the club will kill Les Packer, President of SAMDINO who is currently in hospital undergoing chemotherapy and is unlikely to survive much longer. They take out Packer and they take out their leadership. Taza remarks that it is a suicide mission and EZ agrees saying that is why he will do it along with Angel and Gilly. Hank pipes up and says that Gilly shouldn't go, he needs to stay and defend Santo Padre. Manny says he will take his place and the club is in agreement. Alvarez reminds EZ how dangerous this plan is but agrees nonetheless.
"The Righteous Wrath of an Honorable Man"[]
The club attends Templo with Yuma, Stockton and Oakland. Alvarez announces that the war ends today and they will do it by wiping out all of SAMDINO.
The clubs ride to San Bernardino territory and begin to cause chaos.
They reunite after murdering a few Sons and at some point are able to capture a SAMDINO prospect, they hold him at gunpoint whilst numerous Mayans pile in to the back of his van in order to gain access inside the SAMDINO clubhouse. They are able to drive in and the Prospect immediately tries to call for help but is quickly silenced with a shotgun blast to the head by Creeper, the Mayans dive out of the van and a lengthy gunfight ensues, they kill numerous SAMDINO members outside before EZ, Angel and Canche breach the clubhouse and bar where the inhabitants are unaware of the chaos unfolding outside.
Taza is able to kill a Son who was about to shoot Bishop, after Bishop recovers, the pair say nothing to each other.
The club return to Santo Padre, successful in killing the majority of SAMDINO. Canche unfortunately lost his life in the raid, supposedly murdered by a Son. Alvarez and Diaz arrive and they toast to the life of Canche. Meanwhile, Taza sits with Bishop to discuss what happened earlier and Taza tells him that they are now square after their beef.
"The Calling of Saint Matthew"[]
The club meet and Alvarez reveals he and EZ met with Miguel Galindo and El Banquero’s sister, Soledad about reopening the drug pipeline. The club are shocked to learn that Miguel is still alive. EZ believes this deal could put Santo Padre back on top and will make them untouchable. The club likes that idea but Alvarez announces he’s going to say no to which there is much disagreement with. Alvarez believes the deal is poison and they don’t need it. Gilly points out this decision will leave them vulnerable, but Alvarez is determined to end the bloodshed. Bishop disagrees and calls for the death of all Sons. EZ agrees with Bishop and doesn’t think now is the time to change course. Alvazrez is certain they need to step back, but Gilly and Hank throw their support behind EZ. Alvzrez doesn’t care. It’s his decision and the matter is now closed.
Taza then speaks up, he announces that he doesn't like the direction the club is heading in and he has decided he would like to go Nomad. Bishop is immediately outraged, telling Taza he can't run from all the things he has done and EZ too pipes up to voice his distaste at Taza's actions. Nevertheless Taza insists and Alvarez ultimately allows the transfer.
Creeper, Angel and Gilly are the only three to say goodbye to Taza before he rides away.
Season 5[]
"Her Blacks Crackle and Drag"[]
Taza rides up the familiar dusty scrap ridden path to the Santo Padre clubhouse, he has returned for the wake of Creeper, who was tragically stabbed to death in prison.
Taza stands at the back of the crowd, hoping that he won't be noticed by too many people as tensions between him and Santo Padre still run high. His stealth is abruptly cut short however, when Yvette, Creeper's half-sister who is giving a eulogy says that when they were younger, their home life was very rough due to their mother's drug addiction, but Creeper always made sure that his siblings were fed, and had clothes. Yvette proclaims that she is so grateful for the Mayans, as Creeper finally found his home. She addresses them all by name, including Taza, much to everyone's surprise.
EZ then addresses the crowd. He says "I killed my brother. I killed Creeper. It was on my watch. And I'll never forgive myself for that." A young woman emerges from the crowd, Santo Padre recognise her as Creeper's girlfriend, she approaches Creeper's casket and places her hands on him, before quickly leaving the clubhouse.
Taza later assists his brothers in carrying Creeper's casket to the hearse, before heading back in to the clubhouse to hang around for a little bit longer.
A short while later, Taza attempts to leave unnoticed; he makes it through the front door and is about to head down the stairs when a familiar voice asks him if he is "sneaking out?". Taza turns his head to see Bishop sitting on the porch, the one man he didn't want to see on his unfortunate visit. Bishop coldly asks Taza "You find what you were looking for out there?" Taza proclaims that it "ain't nowhere to be found". He continues, saying this war is worse than the first. Bishop sarcastically remarks that it looks like he left Santo Padre just in time. Taza brings up the past, but Bishop cuts him off, stating that "It's just the fucking past." He chuckles as he proclaims, "What's hell if you can't enjoy it with your friends?". He notes that it would be a stupid time to come back to Santo Padre, Taza reminds him that he isn't very smart.
