Canche was the Presidente of the Mayans Motorcycle Club, Yuma charter, on the FX original series Mayans MC. Played by Mexican-American actor Jimmy Gonzales. Canche made his debut in the season two premiere, "Xbalanque" and plays a recurring role throughout season three and four.
Biography[]
He was named one of The Rey De Los Mayas ("Kings of the Mayans"). They are the shot callers and national leaders of the Mayans Motorcycle Club after El Padrino, Marcus Alvarez left the club to work for the Galindo Cartel.
Cache has a son, who he would regularly take to the Yuma garage clubhouse. The Yuma clubhouse was blown up after a Mayans Santo Padre attack which left his son blind and Canche filled with vengeance.
Season 2[]
"Xbalanque"[]
Canche attends a meeting with Santo Padre and Stockton to discuss three heroin overdoses that occurred in a Tuscon state prison. The three prisoners overdosed on heroin that came from the Mayan's Arizona prison pipeline. Canche, Oscar "El Oso" Ramos and Obispo "Bishop" Losa agree that it's an internal problem and one of the other Mayan charters used to distribute the heroin must be cutting the drug down to make more profit.
The Mayans head in to a meeting with the Tucson charter. They are accused of stealing and stepping on the drugs. Ezekiel "EZ" Reyes of Santo Padre is called in to recall what the packages looked like when he picked them up. He identifies that the Tucson package has been interfered with. Ticker, one of the Tucson Mayans is accused and tries to grab a gun from his boot. He is quickly restrained and removed from the room. The Tucson Presidente Ibarra apologises to Bishop and says he will deal with Ticker.
"Camazotz"[]
Santo Padre, Yuma and Stockton link up after the death of Will Medina, a Stockton Mayan to discuss what they do about the corrupt cops, O'Grady and Pollen who are responsible for the killing. Hope, a prostitute that was with the cops recovered a phone left by O'Grady and bought it to the Stockton clubhouse. Bishop plans that Santo Padre will handle the killing as if Stockton take part it will appear too obvious.
The following day the club attend the wake for Medina.
"Kukulkan"[]
A club wide meeting occurs with SAMCRO on tribal land, they are joined by Santo Padre, Stockton, Yuma and Tempe Mayans are present. The charters sit down at the table and Filip "Chibs" Telford, SAMCRO President addresses them. He tells them that a recent port closure means that the Son's IRA contacts have no way to smuggle their guns to them. Chibs admits that he wants to partner with the Mayans to assist SAMCRO in their weapons trade. Chibs also mentions the Vatos Malditos are going to be joining them for the meeting soon and Santo Padre admit they had a recent run-in with the club. they killed a large number of VM during a human trafficking operation shutdown. Allesandro "Domingo" Montez, Road Captain of SAMCRO tells Santo Padre that he knows El Palo, Presidente of the VM and if he is willing to sit at the table then things can be resolved.
The club return to the table once the VM arrive and Chibs attempts to lay out a deal which will allow them to all make out with a lot of money. Tensions are high between the Mayans and the VM but the three kings, Ramos, Canche and Bishop are eventually able to come to an agreement with assistance from Chibs.
"Itzam-Ye"[]
Santo Padre calls a meeting after the VM attacked them after the meeting the previous day; leaving Michael "Riz" Ariza in a critical condition. Bishop, understandably wants revenge for his charter but the other Kings are trying to talk him out of it and look at the bigger picture. Canche says it is ultimately up to his charter but he advises against war.
"Hunahpu"[]
Riz died during the night and Bishop is set on war, Canche and Ramos once again try to dissuade him. Bishop sits at the table with the other Kings, they explain the severity of the ramifications if the VM deal doesn't go through. Other charters are threatening to defect and take the business for themselves. Canche urges Bishop to talk to El Palo to try and figure out a deal. Bishop agrees and he will go with Hank "Tranq" Loza.
Season 3[]
"Pap Struggles with the Death Angel"[]
Santo Padre later ride out to meet other charters. Tensions begin to rise when Bishop is accused of not pulling his weight as Santo Padre is the source of the drugs and the recent losses Santo Padre have been suffering is negatively impacting other charters. They are also responsible for losing the gun deal when they attacked the Vatos Malditos Motorcycle Club. Canche and Ramos demand double the product to make up for their losses but Bishop refuses and questions if the rest of the club can survive without the Santo Padre pipeline before Santo Padre leave.
"Dark, Deep-laid Plans"[]
Canche hears of a secret partnership between Santo Padre and Tucson. They plan to ice out the Kings and leave Bishop as the last one standing. He pays a visit to the Tucson clubhouse along with others and intercepts them as they return with Santo Padre's smuggled shipment of drugs.
We later learn that after this encounter, Ibarra is stripped of his kutte for his partnership with Santo Padre.
"The House of Death Floats By"[]
Canche and Otero visit the house of El Banquero, leader of the Lobos New Generation Cartel with El Palo. The group want to try and cut out the Galindo Cartel and the Santo Padre so that Yuma can be the drug pipeline. El Banquero shushes Canche when he outstretches his hand to greet him, he is far more interested in his nature documentary on TV. El Banquero spiels to the pair about ostriches and how they work with other species during mating season. Essentially saying that if they unite they can get rid of Galindo before returning to his documentary.
"Chapter the Last, Nothing More to Write"[]
Canche arrives at a garage with the rest of the Yuma Mayans, he is with his son. Inside the garage Canche looks out of the window and sees EZ, before he has time to process an explosion rips through the garage.
Diaz, President of Oakland meets with the other club presidents after Santo Padre has successfully killed Ramos and believe that they have killed Canche. Ibarra is also present and is trying to convince the others that Santo Padre is doing the right thing for the Mayans organization. Diaz asks Ibarra how the Mayans should deal with everything that's happened, and Ibarra responds that the brothers should "forgive each other our trespasses and move forward." After a moment, Diaz finally nods in assent. Ibarra goes to leave but Diaz stops him, bringing out his kutte and gesturing for Ibarra to turn around so he can assist him in putting it on. Diaz helps Ibarra into his kutte before declaring "fuck your trespasses, and fuck your king," shooting Ibarra in the back of the head as Canche appears behind him, very much alive.
An army of Mayans against Santo Padre later assault the clubhouse after the killing of Ramos and attempted murder of Canche, Stockton, Yuma, Oakland are all among them.
Season 4[]
"Cleansing of the Temple"[]
Canche leads the California, Arizona and other Mayan charters in their attack on the Santo Padre clubhouse. At first they are meet with much resistance, suffering many loses before bleeding Santo Padre dry on ammo. They are able to kill a few Mayans inside the clubhouse, nobody of note from Santo Padre however. Running out of time and chances, EZ offers to give himself up if Canche agrees to let everyone go. EZ exits the club house and his brothers follow in solidarity. Canche forces all of the opposing Mayans on their knees at gun point.
Canche begins to monologue the fallout from the explosion in the garage, he reveals that his son was blinded by the blast and it's unclear if he will see again. He expresses some relief that his son did not need to see the horror of the men inside dismembered, one man crawling with his lower body gone. In a rage he kicks EZ in the face, before yelling that they were their brothers. He cites the names of the Yuma members killed in the explosion, then asks the kneeling Mayans if they celebrated their deaths. He concludes that for killing Ramos all of Santo Padre needs to be put down. Canche decides to make EZ watch him kill his brother Angel as revenge for coming after his son. He puts his gun to the head of Angel and demands EZ looks. Suddenly, an enraged Alvarez arrives and demands to know what has happened. He directs Bishop and asks him what he has done.
"Self Portrait in Blue Bathroom"[]
The club sits at the table with the other charters, Canche has proposed the idea of working with the LNG. They need an accountant smuggled over the border. Some members are unsure but EZ speaks up and says that he, Angel and Manny will take the job. Bishop soon becomes angry at Alvarez and accuses him of not being a leader, Alvarez tosses a knife at Bishop and demands he cut off his Vice Presidente flash, Bishop does so and Che "Taza" Romero follows suit, also removing his Vice Presidente flash. Alvarez then tosses Bishop's flash towards EZ and ends the meeting.
Later Canche, Alvarez, Dondo, Mayans Stockton President and Rooster, Mayans Portland President sit in Templo. Everyone agrees they want Santo Padre cut from the club from Alvarez refuses, stating the likes of EZ and Manny are the future of the Mayans and he has no doubt they will be successful in their mission later tonight.
Randall, the LNG accountant arrives and the club discover that he has his son, Noah with him also for the journey, Angel, Manny and EZ are unsure about completing the journey with Randall's son. Canche arrives and informs them it will be fine and the mission will go ahead.
"A Crow Flew By"[]
At the table, Canche is furious to learn that the plan with Randall, the accountant went wrong and he turned out to be a child molester and EZ, Angel and Manny killed him. Canche demands to know what he should tell Banquero but Alvarez tells Canche that they did the right thing in killing Randall, Canche objects and says all they have done is kill the LNG drug pipeline. After Templo, Canche and Otero pull Manny aside and tells him it's time to return home to the Yuma charter. EZ tries to reason with Canche outside saying he wants to put their past behind them for the good of the club but Canche makes it clear that he has no interest in forgiving EZ.
Canche and Otero, Yuma Vice Presidente visit El Banquero, to try and apologise for what went down with the Mayans and Randall. Banquero says nothing as Canche throws offerings out on the table of ways the club can make it up to the cartel. Banquero unloads a few rounds from his gun in to the TV and stares the pair down. They assume by his silence that he likes the offer and he allows them to leave.
"Death of the Virgin"[]
Many charters later go to the Santo Padre clubhouse. They are holding a ceremony for those who died during the civil war in an attempt to heal the rift between Santo Padre and the rest of the club.
Diaz and Canche pull Alvarez aside and tell him that El Banquero has cut off their drug shipment due to the club failing to deliver his accountant alive.
Alvarez addresses the club inside the Santo Padre clubhouse, telling them this is the start of a new chapter and the civil war is behind them, the club must reunite. They pay tributes to their dead. Creeper pays tribute to Pavia, Dondo to Ramos and Hank to Esteban "Steve" Estrada most notably, other charters also honour their dead.
Diaz and Canche later watches as an all out brawl begins between the Santo Padre Mayans and the rest of the club before being stopped by Alvarez, who fires a round into the air. He addresses Diaz and says that maybe he was right about "cutting out the cancer."
"When I Die, I Want Your Hands on My Eyes"[]
Canche and Otero make their way to the Santo Padre clubhouse after news that the Oakland clubhouse was attacked and many Mayans lie dead.
Canche, Hank, EZ, Otero and Alvarez as the club try to figure out who is behind the hit. He says he doesn't know who to trust and can't even trust everyone at the table. This enrages Canche who reminds EZ that he started the civil war in the first place. Canche and Otero leave.
"The Righteous Wrath of an Honourable Man"[]
The club attends Templo with Yuma, Stockton and Oakland. Alvarez announces that the war ends today and they will do it by wiping out all of Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club, San Bernardino. It is confirmed that the Sons were responsible for the hit on the Oakland clubhouse. The rest of the club are dismissed whilst the Presidents address Alvarez. Alvarez insists on going to San Bernardino with his club to fight alongside them but Diaz, Canche and Dondo refuse. Canche insists he will ride with Santo Padre in Alvarez' place. Diaz addresses Alvarez and claims that "We're old men, we had ours, this is their war; their time. Let them have it, let them earn it."
The clubs ride to San Bernardino territory and at some point are able to capture a SAMDINO Prospect, they hold him at gunpoint whilst numerous Mayans pile in to the back of his van in order to gain access inside the SAMDINO clubhouse. They are able to drive in and the Prospect immediately tries to call for help but is quickly silenced with a shotgun blast to the head by Neron "Creeper" Vargas, the Mayans dive out of the van and a lengthy gunfight ensues, they kill numerous SAMDINO members outside before EZ, Angel and Canche breach the clubhouse and bar where the inhabitants are unaware of the chaos unfolding outside. The trio kill more inside, allowing some to live but stripping them of their kuttes. Canche ventures in to the meeting room where he finds that EZ has gunned down another son. They stare at the dead Son and EZ tells Canche, "I caught you slipping" before quickly raising his weapon and shooting Canche in the head.
