Butterfly is a drug dealer and former resident of Meth Mountain on Mayans MC, a spinoff of the FX original series Sons of Anarchy. Played by American actor and director Spenser Granese, Butterfly makes his debut in the season three episode, "The Orneriness of Kings". Playing a recurring role throughout the same season.

Butterfly appears again in the season five episode "Do You Hear the Rain".

Biography[]

Little is known about Butterfly, including his real name. Butterfly is a resident of Meth Mountain and is clearly one of the more mentally stable members of the tribe. Butterfly is the main drug dealer for the tribe and doesn't appear to take drugs unlike the rest of the residents. Due to him supplying the other members with their drugs, he is likely a very respected and could possibly be the leader, along with Isaac Packer. This is demonstrated when he orders the rest of the inhabitants to attack Johnny "Coco" Cruz when he attempts to steal from him and flee the mountain.

Butterfly appears to have a very calm demeanour and doesn't carry weapons but has no issue with making threats or violence. It's unknown what led him to Meth Mountain or what he gains from it, as he is very different to the rest of the members.

Butterfly eventually departs Meth Mountain and makes his way back to Santo Padre, he continues to sell drugs and is involved with local gangs.

Season 3[]

"The Orneriness of Kings"[]

Butterfly is first seen when he is approached by Coco to buy some pills. After some haggling; Butterfly agrees to sell Coco some pills, the pair enter Butterfly's trailer and he takes out some drugs but Coco attempts to rob him at gunpoint. Butterfly hands over the drugs but calmly warns Coco that "This isn't going to end well for you, brother". Coco flees and Butterfly follows him out, he whistles which causes the rest of the Meth Mountain inhabitants to chase and attack Coco.

"Our Gang's Dark Oath"[]

Needing more drugs for Meth Mountain, Butterfly and Isaac pay a visit to Coco, they plan to blackmail him using the pictures of him passed out from the heroin. Knowing that drug misuse will get him thrown out of his club and possibly killed, the pair want him to steal a kilogram of heroin from his club. Coco points out the insanity of his plan, stating that if his club catch him stealing, they will kill him anyway. Isaac laughs, admitting that his plan is insane and gives him until the end of the week. Butterfly hands him another hit to tide him over until his job is done.

"The House of Death Floats By"[]

Isaac and Butterfly later catch Coco sneaking back in to the camp, he has come to rescue Hope and flee Meth Mountain for good. Butterfly calmly takes Coco's weapon away and leads Hope aside.

"Chapter the Last, Nothing More to Write"[]

Butterfly and Isaac emerge from their trailers as they hear an explosion, they rush to one of their huts where they store the majority of their drugs and see it engulfed in flames.

Isaac and Butterfly regroup and find Coco, Hope and another member of the Mayans attempting to flee. Coco exclaims that Hope is leaving with them and Isaac gives her the choice, he pushes her towards Coco and after they whisper a few words to each other, Hope returns to Isaac's side as he is ushered away by the other Mayan. Isaac proclaims his love for Hope as he suddenly sees Coco rushing towards him, only expecting a few final words of distaste from Coco; Isaac opens his mouth to taunt him one final time. Coco instead raises his gun and states "You ain't my brother, motherfucker" before shooting Isaac in the neck. The other Mayan also guns down another armed member of the tribe. Butterfly quickly takes control, demanding everyone put their weapons down. Coco takes Hope and the trio leave. Butterfly cradles Isaac as he bleeds out.

Season 5[]

"Do You Hear the Rain"[]

After leaving Meth Mountain, Butterfly continues to deal, he sets up shop in Santo Padre and serves to the locals with a local street gang. Without warning, the young woman plunges the knife she is holding in to stomach of her gunman, before making a mad dash to the duffel bag of money on the table, her and Hope tear out of the house as Butterfly and one of the armed gangsters follows, he shoots at their car as they drive away before Butterfly places his hand on the gun and forces the gangster to put it down.
